Fading Fast - I agree with you - May Britt was just a stunning natural Swedish beauty! The story goes that the second Sammy Davis laid eyes on her, he feel in love!
NoShear - Yes, I adore Dean not just for his talent (he was talented!), but for the kind of person he was. Thru the many years that I've researched and admired Dean, I've come to respect how he treated other people. One of the many lessons I've learned from his life!

Early tomorrow morning or late tonight - 3:00 a.m. central time, TCM will be showing ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS 1964, starring Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra. This is the last movie these 3 friends made together in the 60's decade. You can tell how much fun they were having just by watching the film! Sammy sings and shows off his marvelous dancing talent. Frank introduces his hit song CHICAGO in this film, and Dean, along with being totally charming and handsome, shares his wonderful baritone voice and what I think is the most memorable line in the movie - IF YOUR OPPONENT'S HOLDING ALL THE CARDS, YOU KICK OVER THE TABLE! Dean and Frank share a great song and dance number with Bing Crosby - STYLE. Also starring Barbara Rush - who plays Dean's girlfriend for the second time, this time she's quite naughty! - and Peter Falk. - (Edward G. Robinson makes an appearance as Big Jim in the beginning). Have fun with the gang and watch ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS!!!

I'm recording it and I love the STYLE sequence.
At this moment TCM has gone berserk. Crossing my fingers that ROBIN runs at its scheduled time so it records.

I see what you mean - I just tuned in to TCM and they're playing the film CARNIVAL STORY 1954 with Anne Baxter and they're suppose to be playing DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID with Steve Martin! They're one movie behind!

Hopefully everything is on schedule now. Ben just introduced DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS 1988, and that's what should be playing now - so hopefully, ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS will play when scheduled!

ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS recorded fine and I watched it. I forgot how much fun the songs are! Besides STYLE, I like MR. BOOZE and DON'T BE A DO-BADDER. You can sing along because they aren't complicated.

Well for all of us Dean Martin fans - 3 of Dean's movies are on the TCM May schedule! The first was ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS last weekend, and the second is my favorite - RIO BRAVO 1959! RIO BRAVO is playing tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. central time. I think I love this movie because it shows more than one of Dean's talents - his acting, his comedic skills (he is so good at hamming it up), and of course his magnificent voice! For me, even though John Wayne is getting the girl (the beautiful Angie Dickinson), I just can't take my eyes of Dino! Not to say anything negative about the Duke (he's wonderful), but Dean just has that magical allure! The film runs almost 2 and a half hours but goes fast because unlike many Westerns that have that 'Western' plot, RIO BRAVO spends time with the relationships of the characters. I think that was one of director Howard Hawks' skills! With Walter Brennan - who seemed to be a Hawks favorite, the great character actor Ward Bond and Ricky Nelson, tune in for the second Dean film of the month - RIO BRAVO!!!

christine, I was searching Johnny Weissmuller and discovered a photo of him with, hopefully, Dean Martin: If it is, in fact, Dean Martin, hopefully you hadn't previously seen this one.

Thanks so much NoShear!!! It is Dino - my guess is that they were playing golf - both with golf shoes on and Weissmuller with golf club. Dean was very authentic and of course Weissmuller was an Olympic athlete. I'm amazed of always finding new pictures and information about Dean Martin even though I've been researching him for years! I do know that one of his passions was golf. In many of his films you can see his golf bag in some scene. He was suppose to be quite good! In the 70's he finally hosted a Pro Outing of his own. In his daughter Deana's biography 'Memories Are Made Of This', she talks about her dad getting up at 6:00a.m. and out the door by 7:00a.m. each morning headed to the golf course before going to the studio to either record or film a movie. Dean's trying to teach his wife Jeanne the art of golf. LOL Dean in his younger days. Dean mid life - he golfed until he physically couldn't do it anymore. He actually hurt his back in his later years golfing and started to take medication (addictive) for a while, because he didn't want to stop golfing, but he finally had to in his later years. It made Dean sad as he aged that he had to give up some of the things he loved - golfing and singing. He kept going though with his comedic skills. He visited many talk shows. Johnny Carson was his favorite since he and Johnny were friends. Dean loved to entertain until 1987 when his son Dean Paul Jr. died. That seemed to take everything out of Dean. He didn't entertain too much after that. He stayed close to his family. Especially his grandson Alexander - Dean Paul Jr.'s son.

It's staged as heck, but I still love the one of Dean showing his wife how to golf.

OK, christine, Dean Martin is starting to follow me around... With what seemed an unrelated search, I ran across the following photo of Dean Martin in attendance at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum during a 1959 World Series game and, naturally, thought of you: There are plenty of other Dean Martin/ Dodgers-related photos to sift through when you have time, christine.
