Wee Geordie (1955)
Bill Travers plays Geordie, a slight Scottish lad who takes a mail-order muscle building course and ends up as a hammer thrower in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

Dean wants to bid all the athletes a good night - also Audrey Hepburn (Sabrina 1954) and Doris Day (APRIL IN PARIS 1952), as he sings - as Audrey says - the song of Paris.
Classic! Now that it's morning again in Paris, it's time for Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, and Kay Thompson to say, "Bonjour Paris!"

I have never heard of this one. It sounds so fun! I'll have to find it now!

I enjoyed watching Katie Ledecky's historic gold and silver!
It made me think of another Olympic Swimmer-turned-actor Buster Crabbe
After winning Bronze in 1928 Amsterdam, then Gold in the 1923 Los Angeles Olympics, Hollywood nabbed him as a rival to Johnny Weissmuller for jungle pictures.
He made over 100 movies and serials, mostly in the 30s and 40s, mostly action, adventure, and western movies.
with his most famous role being Flash Gordon
This is my favorite picture of him though:

I'd forgotten about Buster Crabbe - My brother and I use to watch Flash Gordon all the time! I remember my mother telling us that he was an Olympic Athlete.

It's hot outside, so I find that thinking about winter Olympics helps to cool things off. And who better to think about than Sonja Henie.
Henie was a Norwegian figure skater who was figure skating champion of the 1928 (St. Moritz), 1932 (Lake Placid), and 1936 (Garmisch-Partenkirchen) Winter Olympics. It is my understanding that Henie holds more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies' figure skater.
So, naturally, Hollywood came calling.
Yes, she was certainly .
And those who disagree are on !

Now that track and field is really going in Paris…. I can’t help thinking of a 1984 Disney TV miniseries I love called THE FIRST OLYMPICS: ATHENS 1896 This 2 part movie stars Louis Jourdan as the founder of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin ….. but it mostly focuses on the USA men’s track team trying to get a team going, figuring out how all these ancient events even work, trying to get funding, then almost not making it, and finally creaming everyone

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey was the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo when she took the bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She was also the first woman to sign with the UFC, from which she is now retired. Rousey has had a few roles in action films.

Can't believe this is the last week of the 2024 Olympic Summer games. The past week has been an inspiration. From the city that knows how to love -
Me and Dean want to send some love back - so Dean sings a song of how to love in Paris!
Let's all love our last week in Paris!

Another Paris Olympics movie reference.....
GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES
Jane Russell & Marilyn Monroe end up sailing to Paris on the same boat as the US Olympic Team
Jane Russell sings a song to the Olympians as they train for the Olympics: "Ain't There Anyone Here For Love?"
