AKA Channel One of our most unusual TV setSaturday morning inspired animation & music of our dreams, fantasies and in at least two cases I can think of - nightmares. (If Freddie the Flute sings, please DO NOT post that here). The other one I've stuck way at the bottom. The witch scared me quite a bit. Many bands from A-ha to Alan Parsons have great videos with animation. I will only steal a few minutes of this one out from under you NS. I won't steal the Patti Smith cartoon since she recently lit up my life. The Who - Happy Jack Cartoon It can be items real Or items imagined Items aspirational - The Beaches tonight won Juno for Group of the Year. In their acceptance speech they told all girls to go start bands with their friends. If only! WIZARD OF OZ cartoon opening credits - the witch doesn't make the cut!? Your awesome originator here deserves an encore, galacticgrrrl... John Entwistle was so talented that, besides composing, playing the electric bass as the lead instrument and augmenting the following track with his French horn, he also eventually could yield artwork depicting his own songs' stories such as: THE Banana SPLITS peels stubbornly stuck in my mind with your "One Banana..." title but I discovered the following theme dislodged them, galacticgirrrl:

Wow I don't even remember Danger Island but I surely must have watched it. I even watched bowling for dollars and roller derby such was the spell the tv had on me.
I can't be the only one to have loved the cheese fest below with a VERY catchy song. Danger danger No Shear! It may override Danger Island in your musical mind.

Another one I am shocked to have no memory of....
The 'Saturday Superstar Movie' (1972) was a Rankin/Bass production that was like a 'Movie of the Week' for cartoons. Each episode of TSSM would showcase a new story, from comic strips, movies, tv series, etc. Marlo Thomas lent her talents to 'That Girl in Wonderland' (1973) where she finds herself transported into several well-known fairy tales.

GalacticGirrrl's Marlo Thomas entry brought to mind her children's entertainment project, Free to Be You and Me (1974).

I had the Nilsson album but didn't have a TV at that point in my life, so I didn't catch up with this until years later. Some good talent involved.

"We Meanies only take no for an answer." No, Your Blueness. There's no flute, g-girrrl, but be forewarned, there is a "dreadful flying glove".

Where do we stand on elves? Because they're all over this one and I don't want to alarm anyone.

Where do we stand on elves? Because they're all over this one and I don't want to alarm anyone. What a tonic ILM. I am having such a hard time after saying farewell to Jeff Lynne Monday night. This really bucked me up. However...I find I must now do hours and hours of research. What were Noddy and Big Ears? Elves? I get confused over elves, fairies, pixies....and goblins. I am pretty sure elves are two thumbs up. Goblins I believe should scare the pants off of anyone with any sense. There were strange rock walls in the woods near my childhood cottage. We called them goblin walls....and ran like H E double toothpicks away from them depending on the situation. Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky (Animated Video)

I could watch Free to Be all day and all of the night here on Channel One. Utterly brilliant. When I get too annoying and uppity for my own good I can always hear Marlo's voice: Ladies First! Ladies First!

Whiskey Man has me falling through yet another digital rabbit hole: animated album covers. Boy I can barely get myself into 2 matching non-offending gen x y z socks and people are doing this in their free time. When they aren't solving world peace, collecting alms for the poor and rocketing to the moon.
Fun. Impressive. Ridiculous
[reading about the Who's real life Glow Girls on Tumblr shamefully took up another chunk of time]

Strange Brew - Cream - Animated Album Cover
