I'm still feeling 100%...but a good movie always makes life more pleasant.

Why in God's name would she like a basement bedroom with bars on the window?

True crime and melodrama on a Sunday afternoon is a great cure for all that ails.
Thank you for saving me a seat.

Why in God's name would she like a basement bedroom with bars on the window? I guess basements aren't associated with servants in Scotland as they are in England? Very odd she would be allowed that room with sisters to share with upstairs.

I have missed you all and missed out on so much.
Onward and upward!
Is that Ann Todd really singing? Pretty good imho.

Ann Todd was 42 when this film was made, and 43 by the time it was released.
She definitely doesn't look like she's in her 40s...but the real life Madeleine Smith was 22 when put on trial for murder. And Ann Todd definitely doesn't look like she's in her early 20s.

Still, I'd bet the room smells musty like almost all cellars, plus the light from those high up but ground level windows is terrible. But I guess it's good if you want to "entertain" gentleman callers without the rest of the family knowing.

HI Galacticgirrl!
What do you think of that hairdo? It's Ann Todd's usual flawless pageboy but with a clump of something pinned to the back.

I was thinking a similar thought. Heck, Bette Davis was one year younger than Todd when she made "All About Eve" (coincidentally, the same year). I'd buy Todd as being in her early 30s here.

Hello Andrea Doria.
Clump is such a charming way to describe it. %^D

Love this part where they're on horseback at the beach. A nice moment at the end of the scene to show off Ann Todd's equestrian skills.
