This Sunday, November 19th at 3pm ET / 1pm MT / 12pm PT, we will be watching and sharing our thoughts on the 1950 movie "Madeleine," staring Ann Todd, Norman Wooland and Ivan Desny
Todd plays a "proper" young Victorian lady whose illicit affair with a Frenchman erupts into a national scandal of shame, titillation and family discord when her French lover is found dead under suspicious circumstances. The ensuing trial tests Todd's character to its core.

Such a well-made film. Lean wasn't happy with the finished result, but Todd adored it and thought her ex-husband was being his own worst critic.

I haven't been feeling too well this week...but I am looking forward to this film on Sunday.
Fading Fast, have you had a chance to watch the 1948 noir SO EVIL MY LOVE which casts Miss Todd alongside Geraldine Fitzgerald and Ray Milland?

It is in the queue, but I have not started it yet. I like all three of those actors very much.
Hope you are feeling better.

The Continuing Adventures of Fawn and Me
Me: "What's that you got there?"
Fawn: "Nothing, just a book I've been reading."
Me: "You can't be reading the original 'Bambi, A Life in the Woods' again."
Fawn: "How often do you worry about being shot in the woods by a hunter?"
Me: "Fair point, but when was the last time you were in the woods? You get fussy if your water bowl has a speck of dust in it."
Fawn: "Being shot in the woods is an existential fear for deer."
Me: "But why did you bring the book to Sunday Live!"
Fawn: "Umm, no real reason."
Me: "You think you're going to be bored because I chose the movie, so you brought reading material, right?"
Fawn: "You chose two good ones in a row, what does that do to the odds for this one?"
Me: "Odds don't work that way. Also, 'Madeleine' is an enjoyable movie, but I'll admit, it's a bit slow at first."
Fawn: "Hey, spell 'Madeleine" for me."
Me: "Oh come on, you know I can't spell, especially a French version of a word with that language's creative vowel art."
Fawn: [suppressing a smile as he adjusts his book on his lap]: "Just kidding, buddy."
Me: [mehhing] "Put your book away and give me some popcorn."

Hi all,
Please use this YouTube link for the movie "Madeleine" today, as the one I first posted earlier has foreign subtitles:

I'd swear I tested that other link before I posted it, but clearly I messed up. I'm glad I caught it as something said to me, test the link again.
My apologies.

LOL give him a break, Fawn. I can't spell French words either. Too many vowels and half of them aren't pronounced anyway.
Hope you're feeling better Topbilled, we've been seeing the flu season come in like a tsunami in our town these past few weeks.
Getting set up for more Ann Todd, I'll never love her the way you two do, but she's growing on me all the time.
(I just pulled up the new link and it looks great.)

(I just pulled up the new link and it looks great.) Fawn just loves needling me. French vowels are insane.
I'm hoping this movie ups your Ann Todd appreciation meter another notch.
I can't believe I got the other link wrong. I truly tested it - watched it for several minutes in several different spots. I can't imagine how I go it wrong, but I did .

Of course it's "Conducted by Muir Mathieson," because no one else in post-war England conducted music for movies but Muir Mathieson.
