Yes, yes, yes! I adore this woman. Appropriately for today, YouTube has the 1967 television adaptation of Truman Capote's The Thanksgiving Visitor, for which he did the voice-over narration. Unfortunately, it's posted in five parts and the quality is only so-so, but it's such a charmer that it's worth enduring those faults. She won the Emmy that year for the role, as she had the previous year for the ABC production of Capote's A Christmas Memory, one of my favorites of her performances.

One of my favorite dance numbers of hers from SHIP AHOY:
I'm neither dancer nor drummer, so I probably shouldn't weigh in here, but... I think there's something funky about Eleanor Powell which made her stand out among all the many musical routines seen in her time: She was something of the big wholesome farm girl look but could dance like a Jazz Age hipster, throwing in Gene Krupa attention-grabbing hitches in her routines.

Yes! Eleanor loved to dance with props, and she learned to master almost anything she tried. Check out this routine with Jimmy Dorsey's orchestra in which she incorporates a rodeo lasso into her routine, from the film I DOOD IT.

My favorite George Harrison lyric:
When you've seen beyond yourself, then you may find peace of mind is waiting there And the time will come when you see we're all one and life flows on within you and without you

From a later period: "I'm a dark horse, running on a dark race course. I'm a blue moon, since I stepped out of the womb. I've been a cool jerk, who's looking for the source. I'm a dark horse." He covered a lot of bases. My George Harrison action figure from Yellow Submarine is on my windowsill right now. Love the guy, so thanks for remembering him.
