Remembering/Celebrating Hoagy Carmichael (November 22, 1899 - December 27, 1981) - musician, composer, songwriter, actor and lawyer.
One of the most talented individuals of the 20th century. This would be true even if all he did was write songs like Stardust, Georgia on My Mind, and The Nearness of You. We have the many movie performances: Topper, To Have and Have Not, Young Man with A Horn, The Las Vegas Story, etc.. He was the life of Hollywood parties; In the top five of my "if I could go back in time" wish list would be the Hollywood parties were Hoagy would be playing the piano and singing back-up vocals, along with Judy Garland. |
