Have you ever tried to delete irrelevant portions of a quote to which you are responding? ❌❌❌❌ On my phone it's easy. On my tablet there are issues that require a workaround. I haven't had a problem. Not to be argumentative but I didn't key any red Xs in the post you quoted, so that's kind of a problem, stylistically.

Your post said "Have you ever tried to delete irrelevant portions of a quote to which you are responding?". I deleted part of your quote and replaced it with the red X to demonstrate that I could, in fact, delete part of a quote.

My point has nothing to do with behavior. I suspect there could come a time when suspending an account might happen. Can't do that with Guest mode. Don't have any control over posters. As I mentioned TCM blocked me completely from the forum, including my ISP, which should not be a legal thing to do. No one ever replied to my communications. I like it here and hope no one has left because of what I started. I also hope TopBilled realizes he is Admin here and in control and needs to have control.
You say your point has nothing to do with behavior but then you say you "suspect there could come time when suspending an account might happen." For what other reason would an account be suspended than for behavior? You seem to be advocating that TopBilled ban guests. I'm still unclear why but between you and Lawrence last night it seems time for me to go. Best wishes to all. Sayonara.

I suspect there could come a time when suspending an account might happen. Can't do that with Guest mode. I think websites block IP addresses. That's why when TCM blocked you (I think you were the one who said they blocked you) no one else in your house could log in there. But I'm curious why you want to prevent others from doing something you freely admit to having engaged in in the past. What turned you that you feel so strongly now about permanent pseudonyms?

I am still learning what the Admin account is allowed to do. But yes, the Admin is able to ban guest users. It's not something I want to do or be required to do. It's best if our registered users and guests can moderate their own behaviors. Since this message board began in late October, we have been lucky in that we have mostly had very friendly and courteous posters here. Thank you all for that.

Admin is able to ban guest users.
One downside to posting as guest is the inability to edit after a post.

I'm attempting to create an account with Silver Screen Oasis. Just waiting patiently for a confirmation code. I wouldn't consider removing my account here, but want to see which forum would suit me best. They (SSO) requires a membership to post.
I'm on both forums. So far (since TCM's forum closed), I find that there are more discussions about movies and music at this forum than SSO. The most used sub-forum at SSO is the games\trivia one. There is little discussion about movies or music at SSO (with the exception of a noir\noir alley\eddie, sub-forum. Oh, well it's all good!

The new and fun with this forum are over. I do not want to be a part of a forum where people are not required to be members. Period!

IIRC, I never did get a confirmation code from SSO, but my login works for posting there. It does look like my posting frequency there will be about the same as it was on TCM: 123 67 posts in 18 years. 😆

I want to close this account and not even go with SSO. (How do I close?) I am not an Apple fan but belong to a Mac forum where I can talk about non-Apple stuff and I get along well.

Go to your profile page and look for the edit button. Should be on the right near the top. Click that.
Look for the settings tab along the top. Click that.
Look toward the bottom and there will be a "delete account" or whatever button. Click that and out go the lights.
The good thing about this site is if you change your mind you can still post as a guest and still call yourself jimimac71.
Sorry you're not having a better time.

I could not agree more and hope it stays this way.

Hope you can find a site that discusses studio-era movies that works for you. There are things I don't like about every forum (e.g. even the Jazz Guitar forum I use the most), but hey, one can't always get what they want. I hope you can get what you need.

It's a good little forum where people can civilly exchange views and recommendations. I hope more people join in. Nobody's perfect.
