Oh wow...Ruta Lee? Didn't know she was in this movie.
So Noel's sleeping with another chick, while he's in a relationship with Marjorie? Okay, I think Wally's chances of getting Marjorie just increased.
What a strange (flat?) purse Ruta Lee has in this scene. Must have been a short-lived fad.
Ruta Lee's character leaving: "Arrivederci as we say in Texas!" now that is a classic exit line.
Gene Kelly is unshaven in this scene. Was he ever unshaven in any of his MGM movies? He's going a bit gritty here.

Well, Arthur Miller wore glasses and he got Marilyn. My favorites. Marilyn wore glasses, too. I think she looks better with her glasses, it tones down her screengoddess-ness.

Ruta Lee was quite the dish. What else was she in?

What an awesome line.

Did Gene Kelly ever write about working with Natalie Wood? Or discuss her in any interviews later? I'd like to know what he thought about this experience. They don't really have chemistry. Both probably found their collaboration personally unremarkable. I think Paul Newman was offered the male lead before Gene Kelly signed on...Natalie probably would have had more chemistry with him.

Oh yikes...Marjorie just called Noel a tramp. And she wasn't comparing him to Charlie Chaplin.
Now she's back to seeing Wally, looking for a part. "I don't want any special treatments. I just want to read."

Noel back and South Wind (or whatever the heck it's called) is just sad.

Kelly always seems more warm with his male co-stars than his female counterparts. Not suggesting anything queer but he seemed to be on the defensive with women. Or rather cold.

As colleagues, Cyd Charisse and Judy Garland brought out the best in Kelly, imo.

I agree, he often seems angry at them. It's why his fight scenes with Woods felt more real than his love scenes with her. (Like you, not suggesting anything, just noting how he comes across on screen.)

"Sugar bun!" Marsha is back with a new beau, Lou Michaels (Jesse White).
Carolyn Jones is gorgeous in that red dress and red hat. Even the purse is red.
"It doesn't matter how the trolley gets started. Just so long as it gets where you're going." Marsha's philosophy and her revealing that she's getting married to Lou.
David the drip is at Marsha's wedding. He now has a wife. Good. He's out of circulation.
Natalie's outfit for the wedding is exquisite.
Can't help but like Lou, though it's clear Marsha doesn't love him.

To be fair, I thought David was a really nice guy. I'm glad he seemed to find a nice wife.
Marsha knows the deal she is making, I just hope she can stick with it - a marriage can be for a long time.

I now see why Carolyn Jones won an award. She's heartbreaking in this pre-wedding scene. What a great actress.
"I haven't got a Noel Airman in love with me." That's right, Marsha...you've got a Lou Michaels in love with you.
