My late uncle was gaga about Natalie Wood and I'm just beginning to see why. Uncommon grace. Never seemed to get the right roles for her talent. Love her in the few play to film adaptations she did, though.

I now see why Carolyn Jones won an award. She's heartbreaking in this pre-wedding scene. What a great actress.
"I haven't got a Noel Airman in love with me." That's right, Marsha...you've got a Lou Michaels in love with you. Michaels will make the better husband than Noel. Noel will be a life of grief.

Noel is at the wedding. "Marjorie I've thought about you incessantly."
Noel is such a cad he doesn't even stay for the whole wedding. Of course, Marjorie has to go after him. This guy has serious issues. Pick Wally, pick Wally.
Oh no, she's kissing Noel again. The orchestration swells up on the soundtrack.

He so self-centered and insufferable. Run Marjorie Morningstar, RUN!

Kelly had a challenge with this role that's not very well written requiring a depth beyond his skill set, I'm afraid. Sinatra would have been PERFECT.

Marsha wants Lou to back a show created by Noel. Wally is there, what is his opinion? He thinks the ending is a downer.
Lou: "You got a great show here, but throw out all that hogwash at the end."
Jesse White is a fun character actor...love the part where he pats Gene Kelly on the cheek.
Now Noel is blowing up at them. Giving them all a few home truths. Of course, he's going to lose the backing...unless they have thick skins.
Noel Airman must be the most anti-social narcissistic man who ever lived!

He did give it to them and it might be true, but from what we saw in this scene, they did not deserve it - they were very respectful to Noel. What an *ss he is.

What a marvelous scene with Everett Sloane and Natalie Wood. Like how his character references their days in the Bronx before they moved uptown. Were we told how the father made his fortune?
Sloane had recently appeared in PATTERNS. He's a versatile actor.
How are they going to wrap this up in ten minutes? Will she end up with Noel or with Wally?

Noel Airman must be the most anti-social narcissistic man who ever lived! Show biz's full of em. What was that line from Elaine Stritch, Show Business: more bastards than you can shake a stick at!
But, boy, was Kelly's speech ever so true.

At the premiere for Noel's show, Claire Trevor and Carolyn Jones have their first scene together.
The reviews are in...Lou speaks: "We were crucified. I told him to change the ending."
Marjorie has to run out and find Noel. I suspect he is going to push her away and they are going to break up for good this time.
And yes, that is what happens...she reads his goodbye note. At least her father is there to comfort her.

Okay, so she goes to London a short time later...and who does she run into? Wally! YES!
I want her to end up with Wally.

I want her to end up with Wally. So do I, but Wally would be better off finding someone who fully loved him and who was not always a bit broken by a former love.
