My list:
1. Gunsmoke (half hour episodes, especially the ones written between 1955 and 1958 by Sam Peckinpah, are excellent) 2. Search for Tomorrow (started in 1951 with Mary Stuart who remained its star from the first episode till the last episode in 1986) 3. I Love Lucy 4. The Ann Sothern Show 5. The Danny Thomas Show

Leave It To Beaver I Love Lucy The Donna Reed Show Father Knows Best
The first two are all-time favorites. The second pair are just shows that I enjoy but aren’t up to the level of the first two.
Thinking of favorite shows from the 50s was a bit more difficult than those from later decades — probably because I was too young to experience any 50s shows in their first run (although I did live through the tail end of the decade).

The Danny Thomas Show I have to admit I'm not as well-versed in older television programs, so you've given me some ideas for a few to start watching!

This is a difficult decade, because the television shows of my early childhood remain my favorites, even when I saw them in reruns as an adult. Here are a few for now:

Have Gun - Will Travel Alfred Hitchcock Presents <<<---Scared even my Dad Decoy <<<---Shame it only lasted one season I Love Lucy Leave It to Beaver I am sorry I only discovered Have Gun as it came out on DVD. Hey Boy is a bit uncomfortable. I like to imagine him able to drop the broken English once alone with Paladin. The lack of lead credit for Kam Tong is also uncomfortable. His command of an OSS intelligence unit in Japanese-occupied China sounds like a great movie in itself. The trademark infringement is curious and sad if it is true. Was the HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL concept stolen from Victor De Costa?

Most of mine were already listed. All I can add is...
LOVE THAT BOB(also known as "The Bob Cummings Show")
TRACKDOWN (with Robert Culp) ('57-'59)
THE REAL McCOYS( started in '57, and ran until '63. Does it qualify?)

I liked The Lone Ranger, Adventures of Superman. I wasn't born till 66. Our parents warned us not to put a garbage bag on and try to jump off the roof.https://boards.straightdope.com/t/superman-inspired-kids-jumping-to-their-death-from-windows-balconies/385609

Have any of you heard of Colonel March of Scotland Yard. Boris Karloff played him. A cheap X-FILES. Thank you. Looks great. I do love a man with an eyepatch. They are on Hoopla in my area at least. Watching the first one. Colonel March of Scotland Yard | Season 1 | Episode 1 | The Sorcerer | Boris Karloff | Ewan Roberts A psychologist is stabbed to death in a seemingly sealed room. Inspector March must find who killed him and how did they accomplish the task.
