Yes Ida looks about 16 here. I've realized the version I saw was cut way down. The children's part was about three minutes and Ida wasn't in it all. This is geat, like a whole new movie!

Wonder how Coop got involved with a picture like this. Not exactly his style.

Going to the home of the duke and duchess in Yorkshire...
The duchess is a familiar face!

Don’t buy Coop as an aristocrat (mannerisms, halting speech is distinctly working/middle class) but the set design and photography are tops.

"I can't do anything I don't like."
A stubborn architect; funny, Cooper plays a stubborn architect, 14 years later, and one who could have said just that line, in "The Fountainhead."

This may have been his 'audition' for the FOUNTAINHEAD role...especially if King Vidor had seen PETER IBBETSON and remembered it. So far, there's an amazing similarity in the two roles.

I love how they reference being children...not yet realizing they knew each other as children.

Who is doing that caterwauling? Suppose it’s meant to sound like an amateur. And “her grace” bored to tears.

Harding has an incredibly beautiful and distinctive voice. It so fits her preternatural calmness.

They taught actors posture in those days. Yes, when he walked down that hall, I tossed James Mason out and decided on Coop!
Ando Is right, Gary Cooper himself thought he was wrong for the roll, but I think he's supposed to have some rough edges for a gentleman.

John Halliday was a good character actor who is often overlooked by film historians.
