www.yahoo.com/entertainment/frasier-revival-recasts-key-character-214014160.html
So Frasier is returning to screens sometime in 2023. The original series ran for eleven seasons from 1993 to 2004. Meaning it's been nearly two decades since we've seen Kelsey Grammer as snooty Dr. Crane.
Just as I speculated in another thread, the article above confirms that the now-grown son of Frasier and his ex, Dr. Lilith Sternin Crane (Bebe Neuwirth), will become a regular character. I knew the writers would go this direction because the previous series depended on its laughs from Frasier and brother Niles having a culture clash with their working class father Martin (John Mahoney) who of course has died during the intervening period. Per the article, the son Frederick/Freddy will be more like his grandpa, to facilitate more culture clashing for Frasier.
I expect Neuwirth to turn up in guest spots. The other regular cast of the previous series are not attached to this project, but I do think we'll see David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves occasionally pop up as Niles and Daphne. Just as folks from Cheers traveled from Boston to Seattle to visit Frasier before, I am sure we'll see Niles and Daphne travel to whatever new city Frasier is now living in with his son.
***
Speaking of revivals of classic sitcoms...The Conners is currently in its fifth season, post-Roseanne. But the revival of Murphy Brown failed, which also featured ongoing clashes between Murphy and her grown son Avery. Time will tell if Frasier and Freddy succeed in their new stories.

The Will and Grace revival ran for three seasons from 2017-2020. It was fine, but I prefer the original episodes. One thing that bothered me about the revival episodes was that the characters seemed like they were stuck in 1998. No growth whatsoever.
The Night Court revival will be premiering next Tuesday on NBC. John Larroquette is returning as Dan Fielding while Melissa Rauch (from The Big Bang Theory) will be playing Judge Harry Stone's daughter, Abby. I'm not sure what to think about this one. While I like Larroquette and Rauch, it feels odd to do this after Harry Anderson died. I may be overthinking this, but still.

I just read that British actor (Nicholas Lyndhurst (?) has been cast as an old chum of Frasiers. Described as "British, boozy and larger than life" he will fill the role of bickering and bantering with Frasier like Niles used to.
That Night Court reboots sounds terrible. Harry's daughter is now a judge. No thanks.

I saw Lyndhurst as Trinculo in an excellent production of The Tempest (2011), with Ralph Fiennes as Prospero. David Hyde Pierce, whom I've worked with, lives in my neighbourhood. He's the sweetest, kindest man. Giles Terera (Caliban); Nicholas Lyndhurst (Trinculo); Clive Wood (Stephano)

You sound like you've got some interesting stories, Swithin.

I don't think I'm familiar with Lyndhurst. You've worked with David Hyde Pierce? You sound like you've got some interesting stories, Swithin. As Aline MacMahon says in One Way Passage (1932): "I've been a long way, and I've left a wide trail."
Regarding Lyndhurst, I was surprised to hear about him in the post here, he's not that well known an actor. He's had some tragedy in his life recently, the death of his son aged 19, in 2020, from illness.

I don't know anything about the crew working on the material for the revamped NIGHT COURT, but if several or anyone from the original writing staff isn't involved I see nothing but disaster for it.
And on the other hand, if they try a revival of FRIENDS by bringing back the original cast of dweebs it just adds up to more wasted air space.

While many of the old regulars from "That 70's show" are cast. Apparently this show will focus on the grandkids. I think its better that way. Let this show stand or fall on its own.

Wasn't there a series called That 80s Show which flopped with viewers?

Yes, I think it's considered one of the worst series of the 2000s. It only lasted 13 episodes.

I always associate that title with the Gertrude Berg radio and television series.I only saw one episode of THE GOLDBERGS myself. It was enough for me. But it did take place in the '80's. And the only people I know who like it are those who came of age in the '80's. Personally, the '80's is a decade I'm trying hard to forget. The only nice things about it I can think of was meeting and marrying my second wife. Sepiatone
