Oh no. Please don't get me wrong - I adore witches. The more here the merrier. It is just that Wizard of Oz witch which frightens for some reason that I must revisit with the help of a therapist. He/She is truly hilarious. Perhaps I am just wart averse. THIS is the item that is banned which I have now just been off to check if it sings. No sleep for me tonight. Goodness, Freddy came out of cereal boxes? A very narrow escape there - thankfully no sugar cereal permitted.

I love the Mothra "fairies". In the 1960's movies they were played by a Japanese singing duo called The Peanuts and their little song was Mothra's clarion call to action. Some of these clips are from the 1990's reboot. Makes me want to jump up and save the world, but that would be a lot of time on my feet, wouldn't it? I love that even with all the technological advances by the 1990's, Mothra still looked like she was made out of pipe cleaners.
The looniest of the bunch was Gamera, the atomic-powered, fire-breathing flying turtle. This promo for a home video release gives a good look at him. Not as scary as a singing flute, but would you want to meet him in a dark alley?

I was tempted to post the singing flute scene from The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm (1962), but I couldn't be responsible for you fleeing behind the curtains, so I'll go with this less threatening (?) George Pal Puppetoon segment, because these guys are normal, right? "Ah, ooh. It's fun to whack with a tack and a hammer. Ah, ooh."

I've been familiar with this particular pairing since I read Walt Disney's Comics and Stories as a kid, with all that great Carl Barks art. But did nobody ever think to question...a dog and a cow?? This is a more modern look at the duo.

This guy's stuff showed up on Pee Wee's show all the time. The great Ub Iwerks. Beware. There's a flutey thing.

I missed that one, galacticgirrrl, but I may have still been in the volcanic haze of my KRAKATOA EAST OF JAVA phase:

I'd considered posting this as my "Happy Easter!" to you this Sunday, I Love Melvin, but I better just do it now else risk you getting the hop on me: Back at ya. I love animation but I generally avoid all those animated blockbuster "family" movies which spring up so regularly these days, the ones kids will watch 50 times when they get to streaming platforms, but I guess small doses are OK. Happy Easter.
