Back in the day when we only got three channels and NBC.CBS and ABC were all we could watch; what were your favorite shows? Mine were: The Twilight Zone, The Untouchables, The Red Skelton Show, The Fugitive and Peter Gunn.

My favorites of the 60s tended to be comedies. Some of them: The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, My Three Sons, Hogan’s Heroes, Green Acres (my dad once saw an episode being filmed while he was at the studio on a business trip, so when I see the show now, I always imagine my then-young dad standing just out of camera range).

My 60s shows were: Star Trek, Hawaii Five-0, Mission Impossible, The Virginian, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Marcus Welby MD, Ironsides, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Dr Kildare, The Smothers Brothers, Dean Martin, The June Taylor Dancers (only) on the Jackie Gleason Show. Had to go to imdb to look at their list 'cause the only ones I remembered directly were Star Trek and Mission Impossible.
Edit: now I see that was a user's list & didn't include: I Spy, Burke's Law, Route 66, Rowan & Martin, Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Rawhide, Wagon Train, Twilight Zone, The Man from Uncle, Columbo, One Step Beyond, Sea Hunt, The Defenders... The list seems endless. Can't choose just 3 more.
Now wondering how I ever found time to do anything then.

Thanks for the reminder about The Dick Van Dyke Show (which we still watch to this day) and Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In (which I haven’t seen for years but still think about). I also enjoyed Leave It To Beaver and The Andy Griffith Show quite a bit. There were sure a lot of great comedies back then.
You also reminded me of some dramatic fare which I didn’t see back in the 60s (I was probably too young) but later came to like very much — shows like The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and The Twilight Zone. I’m glad those shows had a revival in the 80s, when I was one of the many 20-somethings who ate them up on cable.

Great lists. I forgot about ROUTE 66 and PERRY MASON. I loved both of those shows, I still watch PERRY MASON on ME TV.
PS I like this new site. I hope it gains users over the next few weeks and months

Mine are "The Fugitive" times 5, ha. But if I have to name others, then "Perry Mason", "Run for Your Life", "The Defenders". For the fifth one, I'll rotate "The Invaders", "Sam Benedict", "Johnny Midnight" (might be only Fifties though-- did it straddle the next decade?), "Rawhide".
This is a good site-- thanks, Topbilled. and it's nice to be able to comment as a "guest". It might be a left-handed thing, but I always hate registering for anything, filling out forms at Dr'.s offices, aaaagh. But it'll be tempting to register here for good movie conversation, if I can make myself. The only other regular social media thing I do is the QVC forums, and they're so easy (but only b/c I made myself register). Do any of you have any confidentiality concerns when you go on a new forum? Happy weekend, and best wishes on the new site!

I did not see these shows at the time of their original broadcast, but I gravitate more toward this decade of television than any other. It would be impossible for me to narrow a list of even my top five favorite comedies. The 60s are unrivaled in terms of sitcoms for me. Car 54, Where Are You? hasn’t yet been mentioned. It’s one of my favorites. The writing and performances in Andy Griffith are exceptional. It seems many of us are in agreement about Green Acres. It’s neat that you have that personal connection to it, BingFan! Get Smart is another worth mentioning for me.
I enjoy all of the supernatural and suspense anthologies.
Every time I watch Star Trek I feel like I appreciate the phenomena it created more. Apart from all of its other qualities of distinction it’s so visually striking. The colored lighting could well be the most gorgeous material produced for television.
My enjoyment of Perry Mason is relatively new compared to other programs courtesy of ME-TV’s airings.

There's too many....F-Troop, Combat!, Bewitched, Green Acres, Family Affair, That Girl...dozens more. Not too much on the Sci-Fi stuff Outer Limits, Star Trek and Twilight Zone. All the kids in the neighborhood never failed to watch Thriller Theatre.
Every once in a while we'd pull an all-nighter board game bender and watch Playboy After Dark. Geez what a let-down.

It's not easy to only pick 5 favorite shows from the 1960s.
But I'll try:
1. The Virginian 2. Hazel 3. Route 66 4. The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet 5. The Big Valley

He loved his westerns, didn't he? My favorite Arnold episode is when he became a fine art painter, with "Nude at a watering trough" being one of his works. Then the episode where he fell in love with Mr. Haney's ... horse, was it? Cynthia.

The Dick Van Dyke Show {CBS} Peyton Place {ABC} Bewitched {ABC} That Girl {ABC} The Carol Burnett Show {CBS} Marlo was cute as hell in That Girl. Somebody mentioned Get Smart. That one has really held up over the years. I love all the movie references and the catch phrases. "MIssed it by that much!" Not to mention Hymie the robot and the great character actors.
