She is doing great! She's perfect for these period pieces because she has the naturally modest and soft spoken demeanor of the young ladies those days. This sequence where she slams the door on Jaffrey and boards up the house...is great. I agree (I love it), that said, there's no central ventilation system in the house; it's going to get pretty ripe in there in the summer with all the shutters closed.

Margaret Lindsay didn't really age much in the 40s. She looks the same here as she looks eight years later in 1948's B.F.'S DAUGHTER (playing Stanwyck's pal Apples). She's thirty here and could easily pass for twenty-four.

Love this shot...the house was built on the backlot at Universal and it remained standing for over 60 years.

Foran is doing a great job here too - best I've ever seen from him. Excellent scene when he meets Price in jail.

While Clifford is languishing in prison, the house will be turned into a cent shop.

Cousin Phoebe knows all about running a cent shop. This is a cute scene.

The abolitionist subplot is interesting...I wonder how much of this was in the novel.

Awww, isn't she pretty! She reminds me of Lily James, our latest Cinderella.

Awww, isn't she pretty! She reminds me of Lily James, our latest Cinderella. It's not a good remake (why did they even try?), but James was quite good in the "Rebecca" movie that came out a few years ago.

Time for a reunion.
