The father's extreme anger at Price is overwrought.

Father is dead on the floor. Yeah, this is not a good day for Clifford.

"Murderer!"
"Jaffrey, you cannot mean what you say..."
"I see, the house is ours now, yours and mine...with me out of the way...you fool, you can't press such charges. No jury would convict me."
"Murderer!"

There were delays on the set, to get the costuming correct.
Lindsay looks fantastic in the courtroom scene.

This speech that Kellaway gives after the guilty verdict, was meant to be pro-freedom and anti-Fascist.
But in the 50s, it was seen as pro-Communist during the McCarthy era, causing trouble for Universal and making it hard for the studio to re-release the film or lease it for TV broadcast.

I know I'm bias (as Hawthorne would write, I'm "besotted" by Lindsay), but I think she's doing a great job here.

News from the lawyer. Good news for Hepzibah.
Bad news for Jaffrey.

Hepzibah gets the house! I knew it was coming and I still love it.

She is doing great! She's perfect for these period pieces because she has the naturally modest and soft spoken demeanor of the young ladies in those days.

Margaret Lindsay didn't really age much in the 40s. She looks the same here as she looks eight years later in 1948's B.F.'S DAUGHTER (playing Stanwyck's pal Apples).
