Dr. (Louis Jourdan) Laurent could go to the top of our list of movie psychiatrists who talk a lot of gobblety gook with great authority.

She doesn't mind waiting while the doctor makes house calls.

Darnell and Rennie's relationship is hard to keep up with - hot one moment / cold the next.
Because of what Topbilled told us, I now picture Darnell sneaking a sip or two of booze while she's waiting in the car as the doctor sees a patient.

Dr. (Louis Jourdan) Laurent could go to the top of our list of movie psychiatrists who talk a lot of gobblety gook with great authority. Great catch. Psychiatry was never more confident in its abilities than in post-war / mid-century movies. It was all about adjusting the dials on the brain properly.

Linda Darnell made four films with Otto Preminger. Most of the Fox starlets were afraid of Preminger, who was a strict disciplinarian. But Darnell got along with him and had some good roles in his films:
FALLEN ANGEL (1945) CENTENNIAL SUMMER (1946) FOREVER AMBER (1947) THE 13TH LETTER (1951)

I love these church scenes filmed on location. Provides us with atmospheric touches. Very much so. I hope one day they restore this one. I'd love to see a clean copy.

"You have been premature in your celebration! Marie Corbin and I are two different persons.
I shall continue cleansing the town until finally it is purged of Pearson."

Mom keeps the suicide razor as a memento. What the hey!
Good call on it's importance, Topbilled.

Suicide, cancer, affairs, secrets and lies...this film fits right in with KINGS ROW and PEYTON PLACE.

Handwriting analysis is now taking place.
Mid-cenutry movie handwriting analysis is probably as perfect as mid-century movie psychiatry.
