Boyer and Rennie have good chemistry in their scenes. It feels like they like each other in real life.

Maybe he did the Crawford "buckle."

So the hospital board has asked Boyer to investigate the letters? To keep the police out of it.

Darnell drank a lot and she had trouble keeping her weight down in the 1950s.
She does look a bit fuller in the face here...but is still quite beautiful.

The latest letter just arrived:
"If you want to meet me, come to the church at eight this evening."

I noticed it and mentioned it last week. She's beautiful, but she looked on the heavy side in "A Letter to Three Wives," of course, only for a Hollywood star.

She just wanted to come by to say goodnight.
Oh really, is that all?

You were right the razor came back into play, by the poor paranoid war hero who's not allowed to have a mental illness.

You were right the razor came back into play, by the poor paranoid war hero who's not allowed to have a mental illness. Suicide wasn't often depicted on screen at this time due to the production code.
The French actress who plays the mother (Francoise Rosay) is outstanding.

The letter falling at the funeral was well done.
Darnell's sister, played by June Hedin, has a Shelly Winter's look.

Letter at the funeral:
"This funeral, which I am attending, is a sham and a mockery. No one cares about the young man who killed himself, least of all the mayor, who will use this opportunity to make an election speech.
Cleanse your town."
