Anabel Montesinos (b. 1984) is a Spanish guitarist who became at age 17 the youngest winner of her country's Francisco Tárrega Guitar Competition. Here she performs the Grand Overture Op. 61, written in 1814 by Italian guitarist and composer Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829).

You can hear the command she has of the instrument. I found myself reaching for an Andrés Segovia version of this piece. Impressive peformance. Thanks.

I’d love to listen to the entire album as an instrumental. While I enjoy Simon’s lyrics and the fact that it’s crafted as a pop album the musicianship on this release is wonderful.

Yunchan Lim took the gold, three months after his 18th birthday. He is the youngest winner of the competition.

He is the youngest winner of the competition. Great post. I put up a link to his earlier performance in the competition of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 on another forum. Both are exceptional performances, though. Thanks!

Kathleen Battle is stunning. This put me of a mind to listen to her with Wynton Marsalis.

Debussy Images I/II Arturo Michelangeli (1987, DG) Usually a springtime listen but it's sounding good tonight.
