Piedmont bluesman Bumble Bee Slim (Admirl Amos Easton, 1905-1968). Very prolific in the 1930s

Dipped back into the Lekeu set. Disc 6 began with this beautifully tragic Piano Trio in C minor - Grumiaux Trio Arthur Grumiaux, biolin Georges Janzer, viola Eva Czako, cello

Enjoying a very good version of Beethoven’s 6th, “The Pastoral” I listened to quite a bit of this. I have a all-time favorite rendition of The Pastoral, conducted by Bruno Walter (orchestra?) I like it because it has a gravity and heaviness to it and also a slower tempi. The above is pastoral lite to me. It is too airy and swift for my taste. Sometime the beauty of some of the passages are glossed over. This us not formal criticism in any way, just my own preference sheet. I am like this a lot with other classics. It's just me.
Thanks, Ando, for all your posts. I enjoy them.

Haha. You're Welcome. I just post whatever I'm listening to. Glad our tastes dovetail somewhat. I'm laughing because I must concur with Dave Huwitz who feels the 6th should be fresh and spontaneous, not at all ponderous or over-deliberate, which runs counter to your preference: There are enough versions out there for everyone.

My favorite Shirley Horn album, Here's to Life (1992). The title song became her signature song and a modern-day jazz standard. Johnny Mandel won the Grammy for arranging this album. Horn only won one Grammy; it was for her 1999 tribute album I Remember Miles. She was amazing.

Don't watch America's Got Talent or any of the others of that type, but ran across this Forte clip several years ago and got hooked. Every so often I replay it & most of the others by the group. Sure wish there was more.

Such a distinctive style of playing. He’s still my favorite guitarist. Thanks.

This is a wonderful LP. This version isn't as good as the other one on YouTube. The stereo sound isn't realistic and a couple of songs get clipped before they finish.
Here is the other one.
