September's theme will be movies based on letters, starting off, of course, with,"The Letter,"
an intriguing crime melodrama starring Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall, James Stephenson.
Everyone is invited (looking at you new members in particular!) Just watch on one screen while chatting here. All comments are welcome, the more the better.

Also starring the electrifying, exotic ... Gale Sondergaard at her show stopping spookiest!

Andrea, that's a great theme and a great first choice. I love "The Letter."
I'm looking forward to the month's full slate of movies.
If it helps, here is a link to a very good copy of the movie on YouTube: "The Letter"

Thanks for the link, Fading Fast! I love that clip, she manages to come down those stairs, firing her gun, while still doing that distinctive Bette Davis walk.
I never noticed till now that she fires one last time after the gun is empty.

It's one of my favorite clips of hers. As you mentioned, with that walk, it's just so Bette Davis.
I've also always loved this one from "Jezebel"

Also starring the electrifying, exotic ... Gale Sondergaard at her show stopping spookiest! Andrea Doria, too bad there weren't some more involved shoots of Gale Sondergaard's "Wicked Witch of The West" before she opted out:

Thanks for the link. Usually WB films get taken down on YT, since their copyrights are heavily protected. I see this upload has been available there for five months, which is good!

Fawn: "I'm excited, finally, a new host."
Me: "Why do you say it like that?"
Fawn: "Like what?"
Me: "Like you didn't like the old host, which happened to be me."
Fawn: "Don't be silly, I enjoy obvious movies, I'm just excited for some sophisticated selections."
Me: "Some of my choices were sophisticated."
Fawn: "If you say so."
Me: "I don't care what you think anyway."
Fawn: "Good, then nobody's feelings are hurt."
- A long awkward silence ensues -
Me: [calmly] "So, why are Andrea's movies more sophisticated than mine?"
Fawn: "Hey, the movie is about to start, did you get the right Sno-caps?"
Me: "Yes, of course, I can't go down that road again. But back to the movies, I don't care, I was just wondering, why do you think her movies are..."
Fawn: [interrupting] "Shh, the credits are rolling."
Me: [mumbling and whining as the intro music plays] "Some of my choices are sophisticated."
Fawn: [sharply] "Shhh!"
(For some reason, the system kept changing the color on the second half, I gave up trying to fix it.)

LOL I'd be so disappointed if the fawn didn't show up.

I think Fading Fast missed his calling as a dialogue writer for the movies.

LOL I'd be so disappointed if the fawn didn't show up. It was no end of frustration getting today's posted as the system kept changing the font color on half of it.

I forgot Frieda Inescort and Cecil Kellaway were both in this film.
Love the classic opening sequence. Sets the tone for the rest of the story.
