The Pianist (2002, Sony Classical)Mostly Chopin Nocturnes and Ballades, it's one of my favorites for close listening and background mood setting. Got any faves?

Not a soundtrack exactly, but play the audio of The Russia House (2008) while doing other things just for the music. Absolutely love Jerry Goldsmith's score.

Much as I loathe anything by Hans Zimmer, I have to admit Davy Jones' organ theme from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is pretty darn good for playing on the desktop iTunes while sitting down to work: I don't know, no matter how much "Can't Stop the Music" he plays, I'm still hearing Jabba the Hutt's theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln1_HB-gckw

Sample from another movie that I listen to for the soundtrack while I'm doing other stuff:

Frankly, anything by Elmer Bernstein. The guy gave us "The Ten Commandments" ('56), "Some Came Running," "Sweet Smell of Success," "To Kill a Mockingbird,""Animal House, "Meatballs" and on and on and on. But the ones I listen to are "Magnificent Seven" and "The Great Escape." Absolutely perfect for the movies we're watching at the moment. I am always amazed at artists who are in such control over so many different aspects of their craft.
One other fascinating fim composer for me is Alex North. I love listening to the introduction to "Cleopatra," and his score for "Dragonslayer" is top-notch magic.

Someone has a near complete playlist of the American Graffiti soundtrack songs on Spotify. Same goes for YouTube Music.

American Gigolo (1980, Polydor) YouTube Music Edition
Giorgio Moroder synth classic, most tracks variations and riffs on Blondie’s Call Me but very nicely produced and arranged. Fun.

Ando, while not a fan of the movie "American Gigolo," I do like the Moroder stuff. Actually, my last job in a kitchen (before retiring) I was working with a bunch of young guys. Each of us would get to select things to listen to from our boss' music app. I had those fellows listening to all kinds of strange things from a time before they were even born. One day I introduced them to Giorgio Moroder, and one guy was immediately hooked! Kept asking to hear the same tunes over and over!
Ya just never know sometimes!

Ya just never know sometimes! Ha. Not crazy about the film, either. A bit lurid. Moroder really took the synth sound to another level after being admittedly inspired by groups like Kraftwerk. His productions were always an intriguing listen with variations and developments that went far enough to extend themes without going too far beyond the dance floor template.
