The show was called Gilligan's Island, and not Skippers' Landing. Despite that, It was apparent Gilligan wasn't in charge of anything. And it was clear, as Gilligan was always referred to by the skipper as his "little Buddy", that he was technically the second mate and therefore the skipper's sidekick. And I thought it was crystal clear to anyone that the character Gilligan was supposedly the main source of comic relief, ergo the show(and deserted island) would be named after him. Sepiatone I agree a case can be made that Gilligan was a sidekick and you have done so. Still since Gilligan wasn't one of the 16 choices, it appears most people viewed it differently.
