Monte, don't you ever call Veda a rotten little tramp again.

The closing shot is beautiful. The cinematography in this movie, as we talked about earlier, is incredible.

The studio's original choice for the title role was Bette Davis who turned it down.
Michael Curtiz wanted Barbara Stanwyck, who also turned it down.

I found this photo earlier and wanted to comment on the incredible use of lighting.
But what scene was this still photo taken from? Is it from a cut scene?

I don't remember it, so maybe it was cut, but it looks like a scene from the redone Baregon mansion.

That's probably the set it was taken in...but it's definitely not a publicity photo, since she is in full emoting mode.

It's from 1:39 in the movie. Fading Fast is right it's the Beragon mansion. Burt has just brought Veda inside. Mildred just says, "Veda" and opens her arms to the little wretch.

Thanks Andrea. I don't know how I missed that part. I must have turned away for a second.
What I love about that still photo/shot is how they've managed to light her hands, even though her hands are not facing the window, the source of the light in the room.
The film has a lot of intriguing visual compositions.

I had so much funning watching this with you guys today. I had forgotten all about this cute visual until I saw it again this afternoon:
A book could be written on the fashions and meaning of clothes in this one.
