Watching TCM today and noticed the first three films had intros but no outros. Usually this is done when there's been a change in the line-up or is this a sign of more cost cutting methods. Perhaps just an anomaly?

Perhaps just an anomaly? One of the TCM shakeup articles that I read said that outros were killed as a cost cutting measure. Because of all the public outcries over the cuts, they'll be back in Aug or Sep - don't remember which.

When they got rid of the Malone/Karger set and put those two on Ben's set I wondered how much they could save doing that.
Secondly when Ben signed off the other night during the final night of Hepburn films it caught me that he sounded different. Almost like he was signing off for the last time. Seemed a little strange to my ear so I replayed it. I wondered if he knew something we didn't. Perhaps he did!

For those following this, here is an article as referenced by dianedebuda:
Karger wrote on Twitter:
“Eagle-eyed TCM viewers will notice tomorrow that I don’t appear after the films I introduce. Same with @benmank77 tomorrow night and Alicia on Sunday. But fret not: This change has already been reversed and our “outros” will return in September for Ben, October for me and Alicia.”
Ben Mankiewicz chimed in: “I know this seems like a bad omen to @tcm fans, but it’s a good sign. Outros – the made up word we use – were ordered back even before they went away. The lag time in production means we’ll wait until September until they reappear. Think of outros as taking a summer vacation.”

Perhaps just an anomaly? Yes! I was waiting for Dave's Saturday Musical Matinee outro for YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, and it wasn't there, which I found very odd for a weekly spotlight film.

I guess we’ll find out later tonight if they are willing to give up Eddie’s Noir Alley set. Since Noir Alley is only shown on the weekends, maybe they can rent it out during the week as a bed & breakfast.

Well Eddie had an outro. I'm guessing Stewart will have one too since her presence on the channel is as limited as Mullers.

I know that the outros are slated to come back, but with all of the shake-up happening at TCM and the overall uncertainty regarding the channel, it's still difficult to remain optimistic about the direction this is going.
A recent article said that the plan is to continue the TCM Classic Film Festival next year. TCM will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year, so I'm hoping it'll be a truly great event. I'm tentatively planning to attend the festival (which I've never been to), as the future looks so uncertain.

I see that this afternoon (Sunday), they’re showing CASABLANCA and JEZEBEL with guest programmer Tom Hanks. While I’m happy to see him introduce these movies, it seems odd to have a guest programmer in the afternoon. Also, I remember seeing Hanks as guest programmer during a more typical recent evening, although I don’t remember whether he was introducing these particular movies.
In any event, I wonder if this unusual scheduling of a guest programmer has anything to do with the temporary cutback on hosting expenses. Is TCM rerunning Hanks’ introductions because they didn’t have new intros from Alicia available (which is what you’d expect to see on a Sunday afternoon)?

These are the same films Hanks introduced several weeks ago. I remember Jezebel and Casablanca.

The Guest Programmer films might also have been repeated to provide another opportunity to promote Tom Hank’s recently released novel.
Sorry to say that such promotions are highly thought of these days.

I remember Jezebel and Casablanca. As far as I know this may be the second time this has happened. TCM did this in October 2022 with John Mellencamp. (Repeat Intros and Wrap-Ups with new Ben Set-ups) Films Chosen: Cool Hand Luke (1967), East of Eden (1955), Tortilla Flat (1942)
Mellencamp's intros were previously seen on September 17 & 24, 2021: When the films were Tortilla Flat (1942), The Misfits (1961), On the Waterfront (1954), The Fugitive Kind (1960), East of Eden (1955), Cool Hand Luke (1967)

Stewart did provide an outro for the Silent Sunday screening of Flesh and the Devil (1926) last night.
