Staring Barbara Stanwyck, Van Heflin and Charles Coburn.
The daughter of a wealthy industrialist falls for an economics professor in spite of radically different views on capitalism.

"B.F.'s Daughter is a fun one that, in addition to the stars Andrea listed, has "our girl" Margaret Lindsay in a supporting role.
"Don't forget that I'm in it too." - M. Lindsay

"Don't forget that I'm in it too." - M. Lindsay Never seen this film. Lindsay plays a character called 'Apples': is she the other woman in the film? (Typically, she is the woman that loses her man to the star casted actress). The film also has Spring Byington. This was done a year before East Side, West Side where Stanwyck and Hefin had very good chemistry.

This was done a year before East Side, West Side where Stanwyck and Hefin had very good chemistry. You are right in general. In this one, my memory is that Lindsay plays "the best friend" role to star Stanwyck, but she doesn't lose her man to Stanwyck.
Also from my not crystal-clear memory, Lindsay represents Stanwyck's old Wasp world that Stanwyck kinda sorta abandons when she marries "radical socialist" Heflin. Lindsay's role isn't big in this one and it's one of the few movies I remember seeing her in when she's older.
As in "East Side, West Side," Heflin and Stanwyck have good chemistry in this one too, but it has a different vibe as their marriage is rocky.

Thank you, Topbilled. That's a really nice copy (and the one I'll be watching tomorrow). But for those who prefer another site, here is a slightly less-crisp copy at Internet Archive: B.F.'s Daughter
That's lovely Margaret Lindsay on the left, Van Heflin center and super Barbara Stanwyck on the right, plus one God-awful looking cocktail in the foreground in a scene from "B.F.'s Daughter."

Thanks for finding a good copy for us, Topbilled.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this today. I've never watched it, but it came highly recommended for a Father's Day film. I just know it will be good because as Barbara herself would say, she'll make it good!

I suppose, it's the other way around, since B.F.'S DAUGHTER was made by MGM first...they reused part of the penthouse set where Charles Coburn & Spring Byington live, as the set for Stanwyck & Mason's place in EAST SIDE WEST SIDE.

Oh good to know. I remember how the master bedroom seemed to be straight off the big foyer. I love the way the movie-rich lived and decorated.
Ready to go for an hour and fifty minute movie. "I love the way the movie-rich lived and decorated."
It is one of my favorite parts of these old movies.

LOL That makes me laugh every time. I tried to post my Necco Wafers just now but they wouldn't stick. I think I have my right click left click rhythm out of sync.

"Daughter" Stanwyck, living at home, is 41 years old here.
