Again, with father and daughter kissing on the mouth. How was that ever a thing?

Is Ed attracted to Stella's daughter? Is that what they're implying with the mistletoe bit?

What’s up with the gargantuan sleeves in Stella’s gowns? That was a crazy 1930s thing. I've seen it in a lot of movies from that era.

Stanwyck has more scenes with Hale than with Boles.

All her fashion favorites are flamboyant, but she's trying to tone everything down for Stephen right now. This might have been their second chance if it wasn't for Ed.
( No I don't think Ed is after Laurel he just likes to tease her.)

Where is Stanwyck getting the money for this new fancy lifestyle?

Boy those fiddlers are working overtime. The background music is a bit intrusive. But that was also the case with ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS which we watched last week.

Ann Shirley (Laurel) is the one I think overacts a little. She's almost too sweet at times, but then girls were so much more innocent then.

And when they are in scenes together, it's over-the-top. I am surprised with such a good director at the helm (King Vidor) this was allowed.

Sirk did manage to just avoid the maudlin amidst the melodrama; not an easy feat! Can’t say the same for Written On The Wind, which I was inspired to watch on the CC channel after last week’s viewing. Heaven was definitely a high point for Sirk.

Where is Stanwyck getting the money for this new fancy lifestyle? That was the lawyer visit, she upped her support payments from Stephen. About time, too.
