Tonight I went to access my bookmarked page relating to TCM's Guest Programmers and I was told "You do not have permission to view this topic". I got sad all over again!
I navigated around and found this which was posted last October:
After nearly 20 years, TCM (Turner Classic Movies) has sunset the TCM Message Board/Forums on tcm.com. The TCM Forums have been a place for fans to meet up and share their love of classic films and we are proud of the community they have created that will forever stay with the story of TCM.
We understand that this news may be disappointing to our members but know that we did not make this decision lightly. Fortunately, there are several discussion forums across the internet for fans around the world to participate in.
We want to thank you for the years of passionate classic film discussions that took place on the forums, and we hope that you continue to seek out forums to keep those discussions going. To stay up to date on the latest TCM news, make sure you are signed up for TCM emails at preferences.tcm.com/.
Thank you again for being a part of the TCM community.

I distinctly remember that the Forums were going to be up for a year even though there could be no further posting. "We are proud of the community they have created that will forever stay with the story of TCM"? More like they didn't want to be seen kicking us on the way out the door but don't seem to mind doing it now that we're all dispersed. Forever lasted about four months.

I was sure I remembered people saying they had a year to archive some of the threads if they wanted to, but I have an old mind in an old body so I don't have a brain cell to stand on.

Focus! I remember because I counted the calendar days to see if it equaled 90. It didn't but I'm certain it wasn't a year.

Maybe the entire TCM site might be "sunsetted" as there's no real reason to go there for anything. after all.... You can buy books, DVDs and wine anywhere else online, or even at places just around the block from where most people live. Sepiatone

That's good to know. Thank you. But if TCM's parent company gets wind of that backup, would they take action to remove it?

Focus, Mel! Focus! I remember because I counted the calendar days to see if it equaled 90. It didn't but I'm certain it wasn't a year. My bad. I guess I can no longer count on, as Poirot says, the little gray cells. TCM was as good as their word after all. I still miss daily visits, but I'm happy here. I've given up trying to get on SSO after many tries, including DMing the big guys, so I guess you're stuck with me. Focus will be my mantra.

It seems odd that the remnant of the TCM Message Boards that’s still up (with the “sunsetting” announcement) uses the old, much-loved TCM logo, rather than the new logo that TCM (or its consultants) now insist on plastering all over everything.
I was also surprised to see that my Bing Crosby avatar still appears when I go to that remnant.
In any event, I still find it sad that TCM (or its owners) scrapped the Message Boards, while at the same time, they disingenuously refer to the TCM “community” in the sunsetting announcement. If they really think that the TCM community is valuable, they wouldn’t have scrapped the Message Boards.
Oh well — my grousing isn’t going to change anything on this subject...

I had only been a casual lurker and posted infrequently for the last couple of years--I can't imagine the feeling for those who had been on the forums for decades.
We are entering a new world and it makes me wish I could rewind and be a part of TCM during its heyday's of the 90s and 2000s with Robert O. But as Chet Baker once sang and TCM included in one of their old school bumpers, "look for the silver lining."
TCM existing in 2023 is better than no TCM at all.

Oh, thank God. I was just sick reading it was gone for good. I had thought we had until the end of February and planned to copy some memorable posts, TCM Challenge Schedules, etc. Thanks to whatever wonderful individual(s) archived the much loved forum.

You probably did read somebody say it would be up for a year. There's always bad Intel floating around. And I wouldn't take not getting past the velvet rope at SSO personally if I were you. I mean I would being me, but not if I were you.
