Piers Haggard, who directed The Blood on Satan's Claw, one of the truly great British horror films, has died aged 82. In addition to The Blood on Satan's Claw, Haggard directed the hugely popular 1978 British television miniseries, Pennies from Heaven and many other films.

Charles Kimbrough, best known for his portrayal of network anchorman Jim Dial on the CBS sitcom Murphy Brown, died Jan. 11 in Culver City, Calif. No cause was given by his son, who confirmed the death.

I think he was married to Beth Howland, who died back in 2015.

I think he was married to Beth Howland, who died back in 2015.He was.
Was in the Stephen Sondheim musical Company (alongside wife Beth Howland) and played Barbara Barrie's husband. Featured on the cast recording. - IMDB

Many fond memories associated with Bacharach's music. Remember a TV Special, perhaps Chevrolet Presents Burt Bacharach (1972) listed on imdb, where he conducted an orchestra playing Nikki. He had written the piece to honor his daughter and told the orchestra to think of her before they began. Of course, many of us also remember the piece as the theme to the ABC Movie of the Week.

The obits of my favorite movie composers seem to hit me harder than those of most musical artists. I remember an extended sad period when Mancini passed. Same for John Barry, James Horner and Jerry Goldsmith. Was apprehensive when John Williams cancelled some London concerts a few years ago.
