When the Beatles travelled to London to promote their early records, one of their ports of call was the office of Disc and Music Echo on Fleet Street.

Her first solo recording was the unsuccessful novelty single "Ringo, I Love You," released under the pseudonym of Bonnie Jo Mason and produced by Phil Spector.

I hope at least one of these kids grew up to be a drummer. Wouldn't you think the universe would demand it?

I think I've told this story before, but this song actually became an AM radio hit in my area and my best memory of it is hearing it on the school bus. My cousin's recent husband got a job driving the school bus and he was young enough to, first of all use the radio, but also to crank it. That guy never had a moment of trouble on his bus, as you can imagine. This was my first exposure to steel drums and I've loved them ever since.

Posted this last week in the Jukebox thread - probably should have put it in here. Anyway, this guy does a pretty fine job of backing the track.

Needs to be a scene in a movie. I didn't even know school buses HAD radios. I was only on one for school trips and never heard a peep of music. Or were we all yelling too much I wonder - perhaps? A great story is worth repeating in my forgetful mind. I was so happy when I posted my last movie soundtrack to find that crazy Dolores Gray Heat Wave video so I could save a copy. Of all places - soundtracks! I couldn't remember for the life of me anything about it. Made my day to watch it again and again.

Klaatu barada nikto!
So many wise acres in the Ytube comment zone:
This did absolutely nothing to quash rumours Klaatu were the Beatles.
did Ringo actually fly in that saucer? that was pretty reckless and then landing on the roof of the Capitol building, 13 stories high! Was he stoned?

Fifty years ago on this date, the first Trouser Press issue hit the newsstand: The magazine later celebrated their 5th anniversary with a cover piece on the upcoming release of The Kids Are Alright: For me, it was in the April 1979 periodical which gave a name to the following drum kit that I'd been admiring in photos for a while: - "Pictures of Lily"!

Freaks and Geeks - Neil Peart sucks I'm seeing if I can lower the lecture and enhance Geddy Lee's signature song - for its trio of the electric bass, synthesizer and vocals all sounding good, galacticgirrrl!

Penny Valentine - I Want To Kiss Ringo Goodbye galacticgirrrl, can't believe I hadn't yet responded in any fashion to your post here... I first encountered Penny Valentine in the context of what I think was her favorite album - chose this track from it for its Drummers consideration - the odd percussion taps near the end of the song which seem to go against the beat:
