If you have never seen FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS (2016) 2pm ET , check it out. It's a delightfully entertaining film!

August 10th has a britely shining Summer Star - Meryl Streep.
My favorite on today's TCM schedule is THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN 1981.
Although I will say, I'm looking forward to DOUBT 2008 and SILKWOOD 1983.
Hoping that TCM will put some of these on their library because I don't think I'll have time to watch them all today!
Too much good stuff TCM!!!

Although, all day Cary is good with me!!! My favorite Cary Grant films are all comedies. The two back to back comedies on today's schedule, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (1944, 10am ET) and THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY SOXER (1947 12:10pm ET) are a couple of my very favorites. Also, another pair of back to back favories: FATHER GOOSE (1964 8pm ET) and MY FAVORITE WIFE (1940 10:15pm ET).

I'm enjoying the piece of fluff which is THE FRENCH LINE. We didn't get to hear Gilbert Roland's wonderful singing voice very often!

TCM's Summer Star is shining on Jerry Lewis today - Saturday, August 17th. First time honoree and Dean Martin's partner in show business for 10 years.
My favorite on the schedule is scared stiff 1953.
SCARED STIFF theater trailer
Visit my Dean Martin thread for more about all 5 Martin and Lewis movies on today's TCM schedule.
Have fun watching !
I will be - TCM doesn't play them often - that's kind of scary!
Shine on Jerry!

August 18th TCM is honoring one of entertainments brightest stars - Katharine Hepburn - often referred to as 'The Great Kate'.
I was busy earlier and missed UNDERCURRENT 1946 - however, it can be found on the TCM Library (I'll be watching it later this week).
I actually saw a Hepburn movie on the TCM Summer Under The Stars schedule today that I had never seen (love that!) - A DELICATE BALANCE 1973.
Also watched ON GOLDEN POND 1981. I absolutely am amazed at the lovely Cinematography by Billy Williams - just stunning! Not to mention it's an excellent movie with excellent performances!
Katharine Hepburn is a super star whether it's Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall! Her star will never fade!

Well, I am excited for Monday, 8/19, because it's John Gilbert's SOTS day!
Of course, we will have the chance to see 4 Gilbert/Garbo collaborations, my favorite of which is FLESH AND THE DEVIL, which also stars another actor I really like, Lars Hanson.
THE MERRY WIDOW, LA BOHÈME, THE SHOW, and THE BIG PARADE are all wonderful films, but 2 lesser known films definitely worth watching are
BARDELYS THE MAGNIFICENT and DOWNSTAIRS (a film in which Gilbert wrote the script and sold it to MGM for $1.00 to ensure it was made!)

DOWNSTAIRS (1932) is a film I like very much.
Going back to the Kate Hepburn stuff, I saw A DELICATE BALANCE about ten years ago. It's more of a filmed play, but an interesting piece with good actors in it.
As for those Jerry Lewis day selections, I am also a fan of SCARED STIFF.

As for those Jerry Lewis day selections, I am also a fan of SCARED STIFF. Watched State of the Union on Hepburn SOTM day. I've seen it before, but the wife hadn't. She was surprised that the relationship between husband Tracy and much younger girlfriend, Lansbury, was so out in the open. I really enjoyed Lansbury's performance. She was only 23 but comes off as very mature and savoy.

Summer Under The Stars belongs to Jeanne Crain today - Tuesday, August 20.
My pick for today is STATE FAIR 1945. I love a good Rodgers and Hammerstein Musical!
Other films on TCM's schedule I like are A LETTER TO THREE WIVES 1948, PINKY 1949 and PEOPLE WILL TALK 1951.
TCM is mixing it up nicely this month with so many films that haven't played for a long time.
Let Jeanne's star shine today!
