I've never seen "Moss Rose," nor even heard of it, but I'm always up for a movie with Peggy Cummins of "Gun Crazy" fame.

Agreed. While I haven't seen that one, her sort off one-off-the-beat vibe worked well in the good 1957 British movie "Hell Drivers," which also has a pre-007 fame Sean Connery in it. From IMDB: "Hell Drivers"

Have never seen Moss Rose, and it sounds interesting. I just reviewed all of Cummins' 40s and 50s American films and realized the only film I had seen was Gun Crazy, but I had seen a few of the British films she made after going back.
I assume TCM hasn't shown many of her 20th Century Fox films, since TCM doesn't focus on Fox films expect the most famous ones. Moss Rose cost Fox a lot to make and was a big loser at the box office, but it sounds like a who-done-it I would like to see. This from Wiki:
20th Century Fox announced they had paid their highest ever price for the screen rights to a 1934 novel by Marjorie Bowen for Moss Rose, but did not specify how much. The film was immediately assigned to Peggy Cummins, who had been fired from Forever Amber.
"Ethel Barrymore was in it", Vincent Price said. "I was terrified of her until one day between takes she waddles up and whispers, 'Got a smoke?'"

Me: "We got popcorn, with real butter, soda, Sno-Caps and Necco Wafers - happy?"
Fawn: "You know I'm not picky."
Me: "Dear Lord. Okay, which color wafer do you want to try first?"
Fawn: "Can't you just spread them out and let me pick?"
Me: "No, because then you'll nudge each one with your wet nose, before you choose and the rest will be all soggy. Plus, we know you're going to pick the pink one anyway since it's your favorite color, so why can't I just give you that one now?"
(A few tears well up in the Fawn's eyes.)
Me: "You know, spreading them out isn't a bad idea."
(I proceed to spread them out; the Fawn nudges every one with his nose, leaving a wet spot each time, and then picks the pink one.)
Me: "Well?"
Fawn: "I like it."
Me: "Have another; try the yellow."
Fawn: "Aren't there any more pink ones?"
Me: "Sigh."

Thank you both for the compliment on the Fawn "comicstrip." I am struggling to find new material, so I am very glad you liked this one.

Thank you both for the compliment on the Fawn "comicstrip." I am struggling to find new material, so I am very glad you liked this one. I feel like Tracey Ullman eclipsed by the Simpsons, who got their start on her show. I think Fawn is the breakout star here!

I'm surprised Cummins got top billing over Mature, Barrymore and Price.

Some of these Victorian street sets are recycled from Fox's remake of THE LODGER 1944).
