Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill has reached number one almost 37 years after first being released. In doing so, it has broken the record for the biggest gap between being released and topping the chart. Catherine Bush CBE began writing songs at 11. She was signed to EMI Records after Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour helped produce a demo tape. Today was a Sonny Boy Williamson II kind of day.
For the record: that's Otis Spann on the piano, Willie Dixon on bass, Matt Guitar Murphy on guitar, and Billy Stepney on drums. This is a prime example of how it's done.

Listening to Christmas music, I wondered why you don't hear more holiday tunes from Judy Garland other than "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." I was surprised to learn that she never recorded a Xmas album. Seems like that would have been a perennial favorite. Also, I don't think I've ever heard any Xmas songs by Doris Day. I did find a Xmas album from Doris Day online: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLYqkscuZkA&list=OLAK5uy_mxPB8bSGw-o5wW6QVMnViX1YVneFX56K4

The late Jessye Norman's version (w/The Orchestra of St Luke's) of Haydn's aria, Scena di Berenice, has been a favorite and Cecilia Bartoli's is llistenable but I'm very impressed with Sandrine Piau and the Il Giardino Armonico's snappy interpretation!

Both Judy and Doris are on my all time favorite. Just found a great promo done by Bing promoting it - very neat. I had no idea. I thought I posted this one somewhere in here. Little bit of a story about my discovery of and finally locating a CD with this on it. But I thought a clever way to musically arrange the oldie "The 12 Days Of Christmas". I apologize if this was posted somewhere here before. The problem with belonging to more than one forum. I apologize if this was posted somewhere here before. The problem with belonging to more than one forum. Apology accepted. And worth posting twice. It caught my eye originally as I believe it was a 'sit in the car and wait for the announcer' type scenario. These are ones I need to find. It also caught my eye as I searched forever for one of their albums I had as a kid. Once I got it though I wasn't positive it was the one I needed. Just doesn't sound as impactful as I thought it did.
