I Love Melvin, the chord progression of "Indian Summer" sounds similar to "The End" if I'm correctly hearing: Support to this thought is "Indian Summer" is said to have been recorded during the August 1966 sessions for THE doors.

Sounds to me like the king's chain may be a little umbilical in nature. Tim Buckley struggled sometimes and tried a lot of approaches to his music, but I think he was onto something in this very Morrison-esque phase,
