Advance sales are through the roof, and the album won't be released until November.
Yesterday her cover of 'Let It Be' with Paul McCartney (and Ringo on drums) was released.
What an exhilarating version!

I've learned NEVER to be skeptical about Dolly Parton because she always come through. Thanks for the heads up and I can't wait for the rest. Ann-Margret also recently did an album of covers, "Born to be Wild", featuring an impressive array of rock musicians like Pete Townsend, Joe Perry and Steve Cropper. I love Annie, but the album (based on hearing only a few cuts) struck me as more of a novelty than what I expect to hear from Dolly. Dolly has a long history off collaboration, most notably the Trio albums with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. It was always a treat when she popped up on someone else's album. One of my favorite collaborations was with Ladysmith Black Mambazo on their album Heavenly (1997).
Dolly was returning the favor after they'd appeared on her 1996 album Treasures, backing her on the Cat Stevens song "Peace Train". Dolly has never let herself be boxed into any musical style, God bless her. Thanks for posting this reminder of what a giant she truly is.

You're right, Dolly does have a history of collaborative work...in the country music genre and beyond.
One of the covers of the new Rockstar album (Dolly's 59th studio album!) is a version of 'You're No Good' which she performs with Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow...which obviously seems to be a tribute to Linda Ronstadt.
The Rockstar album has 30 tracks, so she's covering a lot of ground with it, and there are many different unique collaborations. She does one track with Elton John; there's a track with Sting; another track with Debbie Harry; and even one with Stevie Nicks.

You've gotten me so excited now. Dolly has one of those voices which can blend so easily and so well with others, which is why it's good to see so many singers as well as musicians in the lineup. I'm beyond curious now to hear Dolly with Emmylou and Sheryl Crow and, yes, it does sound like an homage to Linda Ronstadt. Sheryl's another one who has duetted in support of many others on their albums. This is a tangent, but I want to post this duet by Sheryl and Emmylou on the Lou Reed song "Pale Blue Eyes", which I've loved since Patti Smith covered it in her early days, so, yes, I think Sheryl would be the natural one to blend her voice with Dolly and Emmylou to honor Linda. This may not be true, but my instinct is that women are much more inclined to support each other in this way than male singers are and Dolly is at the epicenter of it all.
