Lana Turner's next film would be with Richard Carlson...DANCING CO-ED (1939).

The business with the glass of milk was funny.
There are some cute moments in this film. In the close up, you can see Ayres' sport coat is made of beautiful fabric.

What's wrong with the upper classes?
Well, for starters, your father's just been indicted for fraud.

Betty's death is very dramatic.
Marsha Hunt probably has the best role in the film.

Communist-tinged dialogue from Lew Ayres' character, telling his father everything that's wrong with money and the upper crust life.

Communist-tinged dialogue from Lew Ayres' character, telling his father everything that's wrong with money and the upper crust life. It's easy to say the money isn't important when you've had it your whole life. He's saying the right things, but let's revisit with him in six months and year when he's had to make his own way and realizes the doors don't open automatically for him anymore.

Marsha, noooo! I wish someone had reminded her that college boys aren't the whole world.

Marsha, noooo! I wish someone had reminded her that college boys aren't the whole world. She got lost inside the story others were writing for her.

Lana was very good in this one.
Good production values. The script was a bit uneven in spots, but overall not bad.
Thanks FadingFast for choosing this one!

Thanks FadingFast for choosing this one! Thank you. I really like this movie as it blends the pretty surface college stuff with real life very well, plus it has a great cast.

Well! The tension! I spent so much time trying to keep up and worrying about Betty and Jane, the whole thing just flew by and now I think I'll watch it again with a better idea of who everyone is.
I agree with you two that "Carol," was a fine actress, she kept reminding me of Patricia Neal.
Good pick, Fading!

Good pick, Fading! Thank you. I couldn't keep the characters straight till about my third viewing.
Great call on Bryan and Neal. I didn't pick up on it myself, but I see the similarities clearly now that you noted it.
