Watched this show again. I think Robert was so popular because of his enthusiasm, admiration for stars and films. His joy comes through his voice and eyes. The current TCM hosts don't have that intensity- Eddie coming closest, his presentation is perfect for noir films. Robert didn't play it cool or subdued. He was open and unafraid to be excited.

I hope that some of the newer TCM viewers were able to watch the show to get a sense of how special Robert Osborne was as a host. Might I also say that this should be required viewing for the WBD CEO to gain an appreciation of what TCM was all about.

AFI has a section THE RORERT OSBORNE COLLECTION which has some of his Intro's. Some of his interviews are on YouTube. Today I saw the bit of Vincent Sherman interview where he talks about Bogart. That was not with Osborne-the interviewer is not revealed. There are dozens of these-Cyd Charise, Garson Kanin-always a story about actor in a film soon to be aired on TCM. Why can't these be on the TCM website-the entire interview? I've complained before that the interviews from the festivals, like a snippet of Rita Moreno when she intro'd a film. Seems to me there might be a wealth of interviews TCM has that fans of old movies would like to view. And heavens, the TCM website leaves a lot to be desired. Seems like an easy way to build loyalty.
