We saw the latest Mission Impossible movie last night. Filming was delayed by Covid, a clip was leaked of Cruise lecturing the crew to take the precautions seriously, he eventually rented a cruise ship to keep everyone together so they could get this made. Before the movie last night, a clip aired of Cruise and the director thanking audiences for coming out to the theater.
It is a movie made to be seen on the big screen with rousing, jaw-dropping action sequences that does not rely on CGI. Like last summer's Maverick, Cruise does his own stunts and it makes for a roller coaster ride of a movie. It's part one, with part two coming out next summer. The ending of this is quite thrilling and sets up part two nicely. It's a popcorn movie with a McGuffin of trying to keep a weapon that could destroy the world out of the wrong hands. With a supporting cast of Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Cary Elwes, Esai Morales. A fun night at the movies.
