Leslie Van Houten is out on parole...
'Harper' is 'Physic'
The 1966 movie presaged the Age of Aquarius crimes of the Manson cult.

After the Manson murders, wasn't there another uproar that tv and movies caused the violence? I can only think of one movie that I felt affected by the violence and language: Pacino's SCARFACE, but not inspired to do violence. Right after the film I thought I could see someone's leg ripped off and not be horrified. I remember all the talk about how many times the F word was used, more times than the number of minutes of the film.

I think you've correctly remembered as I've read that the year of the Manson murders - 1969 - saw continuing scrutiny directed at television violence which appears to have first taken organized form during the preceding year. Your mention of SCARFACE and the F word reminded me of YouTube uploads spoofing the prolific use of the F word in THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999).

Your mention of SCARFACE and the F word reminded me of YouTube uploads spoofing the prolific use of the F word in THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999). Only to be outdone by any appearance of JOE PESCI in a movie. "Experts" without clues have always grasped at straws for scapegoats to explain abhorrent social behavior. Juvenile delinquency blamed on everything from comic books to rock'n'roll music to gunfights in movie westerns. Never dealing with any true source. Then the relaxed standards in movie violence, nudity and language, despite much of that language being heard on a regular basis in most homes. And each decade coming up with new things to blame like cable TV and RAP music. When really, there are manifold sources available, one of them relaxed legislation of some previous restrictive laws.
