think the graphics for her segments were some of the best the TCM art department (?) ever did, really colorful and really evocative of movie history and style. None of her intros available have the graphics, which is a shame. Here you go! Enjoy this stroll down memory lane!

Short and sweet. Thank you so much. I didn't have an exact memory, only the memory that I really loved the graphics. This is the kind of thing we'll probably be missing from now on with all the cuts.

I didn't make clear that "helping with her presentation" I meant helping her feel comfortable before the camera

BUT------------------------------------- Sepiatone I guess I could have taken the time to post ALL the intros and Wrap-Ups but thought it was easier the way I did it. No Spam was intended!I suppose not, but I couldn't resist! Sepiatone

I wasn't on the TCM message board back when she was a host, so I had no idea there was all the controversy about her that Topbilled explained even going on. I liked her without putting a lot of analysis into it. I thought she was personable and seemed to be enthusiastic about the movies she introduced. I missed her when she disappeared. I could not understand the animosity towards her. I thought, gee, if you don't like it, then skip watching TCM on Saturdays. Or DVR everything and fast-forward over her intros.
Another problem is that sometimes her wraparounds had errors in them (which happens to all the hosts, even Robert's wraparounds sometimes contained the wrong info)...but when she said something in error, they really raked her over the coals, implying she didn't know classic movies very well, instead of blaming the person who wrote the wraparound.
She was put into a difficult position, brand new, trying to win over viewers.
Yancey and I talked about this once before...she needed time to be eased gradually into the role, instead of them just throwing her out there without a safety net.
I, too, could never understand the vitriol toward Tiffany Vazquez, as some TCM devotees were unusually hypercritical of her to the extent of being cruel. She arrived at a time when TCM was transitioning from the Robert Osborne era, and some people are antithetical to change. She always seemed awkward in front of the camera, but I attribute much of that to her inexperience, and TCM could have eased her into the position better. I don't know if anyone ever saw her conduct live interviews at the TCM film festivals, but she was decent in that role and had experience doing it at Film at Lincoln Center in New York. She was perhaps not suitable for the TV hosting job, but she certainly possessed more knowledge of film than someone like Dave Karger.

I get that. As I mostly tune into TCM for the MOVIES, I found it a waste of time sitting in judgement of a movie host. Most of what they say is read off of teleprompters to begin with, so it's not THEIR ignorance of classic movie facts the viewer is dealing with. And often if they're providing a preamble to a movie I've seen a dozen or more times and have heard intro preambles from a dozen or more movie hosts way before TCM ever existed, then I'm off to the head or kitchen and not paying any attention to what Tiffany, Ben, Dave, Eddie, or any other host is saying.

I think Dave Karger probably knows more about film than folks give him credit for. He has a very low-key approach and I think that leaves people to assume he only gets his information from the teleprompter. I think Dave is at his best when he has a guest host alongside him.
I know his intros to the Saturday Musical Matinée don't really provide much more info than most of us already know, but I really enjoy his play-by-play commercial promo segments in which he singles out a specific scene from a musical.

I too didn't mind Tiffany Vazquez when she hosted TCM programming on Saturday afternoons. I thought the derisive comments people made about her on the old TCM message boards really crossed a line. It was one of the big turn-offs having to read such comments, which taught me not to venture into a thread with a provocative-looking title. My rule of thumb on some of the harsh criticism she received was, "If you don't like the way she's presenting a movie, for the love of God, get in touch with the TCM higher-ups, tell them you can do a better job than what she's doing, negotiate a contract, and get your butt in the makeup chair ASAP!".

I remember it reaching a point where the moderator(s) of the old TCM message board would just start deleting any new threads about Tiffany, because it was never going to lead to positive comments about her. They also had to start yanking threads about Ben Mankiewics who suddenly started receiving a lot of online criticism a year or two later.
After Robert Osborne left the airwaves, it was difficult for some folks to accept the replacement hosts.
