Typing "The Real McCoys" in my search engine I'm taken to a page that provides(on the right side of the page) a link to the Wikipedia page for the show, but also just mentions; "The McCoys move from West Virginia to Northern California." But the Wiki article claims the show is set in the San Fernando Valley, which seems to be nowhere near Northern California. Sepiatone The following IMDb trivia might give you some satisfactory clarification, Sepiatone: "In the promos for this series, the McCoys' farm is described as "20 miles northwest of the Los Angeles City Hall". This would be very close to where Walter Brennan was buried, at the Mission San Fernando Cemetery."

I thought to enter the "fictional" town of "Bugtussle", where the Clampetts hailed from, but for the heck of it, I dug in and found there's actual Bugtussles yet unincorporated in Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Arkansas. I think another is in Missouri. Sepiatone I'm pretty sure Eureka Springs (they pronounced it Eureky Springs) was mentioned by the Clampetts. Eureka Springs is in Arkansas.

My parents were born in Indiana. When we went to visit their parents, I loved to go through the little towns of Stoney Lonesome and Gnaw Bone because I'd try to imagine how they got their names. Some real named towns would have made great towns in a series-imagine a phone call confusion about Stoney Lonesome-"no not a person, the town". Or how about the annual celebration in Gnaw Bone for the original saved bone which had been gnawed by-what?
