I don't agree with Bainter's view of not fighting, but I respect that she does. I agree with it but I can't do it.
Oh no, pneumonia. My son had it last week. I was merrily thinking we didn't really have to worry about it these days, but he was resistant to the antibiotics and his temperature went to 103 and his oxygen sank to 85 and he had to be hospitalized. It was terrible. Then the "crises" and the antibiotics started to win. We are so lucky these days. Oh my...glad he is out of danger now.

Yes it was scary. It was quite a lesson in appreciation for our health.
Bonita's prissy walk at the train station, down to the corner where he was waiting -- so cute!
I just love her in this and I hated her as the mean-girl niece in Now Voyager. That's a good actress!

Grandville is a talented actress. Yes, that walk was priceless.

No, Hannah can't leave. She should stay. Yes it's hard for her, but she also would be with people who love her.

The first and final scenes in the snow in the street, just perfect.
This is one of my new favorites now! Thanks Topbilled!
I happen to know that Hannah's departure was delayed and she ended up taking the same train out as Mr. Bradford and they get married and live happily ever after.

There were a few things I noticed this time around, I hadn't caught before...Hannah's first scene with the baby, dangling the apple peel...she seems to be looking at the child as if she is reconnecting again with her own lost child.
Also the later scene where she lights Bradford's cigarette, we can guess she probably did this for him years earlier when they were young and in love, suggesting she still does love him. It's a magnificent performance, the way Fay Bainter suggests things and sometimes there is no dialogue but the way she uses her eyes and conveys so much meaning. It's easy to see why she was Oscar nominated for this role.
