One of his I liked to play and sing goes back a bit.....
I hate it when more of my youth dies off.
Rest In Peace, Gordon. You can still write songs fit for angels to sing.

For some reason I am not despondent over losing this gem. It did help to have advanced notice. You knew when he cancelled his current tour due to illness this could be the final curtain call.
The celebrations of his career have been so uplifting. He is one who got funnier as he got older. From his start as a square-dancer, to being Drake's neighbour and those mistaken reports of his death in 2010 - there has been much hilarity. And the most gorgeous music....

And lest we forget his acting... A few TV spots and one movie role - short but sweet - like Levon in Coal Miner's Daughter Harry Tracy (1982) Gordon Lightfoot as U.S. Marshal Morrie Nathan with Jacques Hubert as his Indian tracker Harry Tracy (1982) onceuponatimeinawestern.com/harry-tracy-1982/“My Love for You” by Gordon Lightfoot - Harry Tracy (1982)

Yesterday the Mariner's Church in Detroit(Mentioned in Gordon's "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald") rang it's bell 30 times in tribute to Gordon Lightfoot.

Oh thanks for mentioning that - I missed it but I see CBC did a little spot on it. The Moment - Mariner's Church rings their bell 30 times for Gordon Lightfoot Family members of the men lost in that wreck shared their memories with us.www.cbc.ca/player/play/2201462339736This old Crawdaddy article was great. He talks about his mother, musicals, money (the most expensive divorce settlement in Canadian history). I wish I could find a clip or snap of him with his drums or his non-guitar axe. April , 1975, Crawdaddy Gordon Lightfoot rises After "Sundown" 7 Page Special www.corfid.com/gl/press/press26.htmOnce he discovered a record company that was packaging his early out-takes. He bought thousands of the records and stored them in his backyard. Every weekend he chopped up a carload with an axe.

I didn't have time to read the entire piece, just far enough to notice that the writer mistakenly referred to a Peter, Paul and Mary member as Paul Yarrow. Not the well known Peter. It was, we remember, Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. Sepiatone
