I can't remember if I got far enough in the April schedule to announce if that was coming. In many years of being on these and the old message boards, one thing that always struck me was how many people sang the praises of Pleshette in this movie, which I haven't seen. I do like her sad performance in The Birds, and I think I watched some Bob Newhart as a child. I remember her surprise appearance in the final seconds of Newhart caused quite a sensation. No doubt it would have broken the Internet, if the Internet existed yet.

I don't know if this is the place to say this, but TCM has "Rome Adventure," coming on at 5:45. 4/26 (Now.) I think it's one of the best of Troy Donahue's movies. He and Suzanne Pleshette fall in love in this movie and also in real life while making it. They married a short time later. The marriage only lasted 6 months. I think Suzanne Pleshette is a really good actress and a fine person. I don't think she ever said anything publically about why the marriage ended, but we can guess. What's nice to see is the scene where the two are sitting in a club during a romantic song and she truly looks like a woman in love. Also staring is Angie Dickinson in a smoking hot role as the "other woman." I've seen it before and enjoy it, so I watched part of it on TCM last night thanks to Andrea's heads up. Did any notice a "red tint" to the faces? I get this from time to time on TCM movies. I'd blame my TV, but it doesn't happen on other channels and it seems to come and go.

Sorry if this means that your TV is having issues. I see that the film is also on WatchTCM. If you happen to have the service, you can try a repeat test.

I'm open to blaming my TV, so perhaps it's an intermittent problem on one channel. That seems odd, but it's an eight-year-old TV and TV's don't seem to last like they used to. On the plus side, they also are much cheaper (in inflation-adjusted dollars) than they used to be, so once the problem gets a bit worse, it will be new TV time. I appreciate the feedback.

Daytime May 19 The Lighter Side of Death (I mean, you know, if there is a lighter side). I won't include The Gazebo, which also airs on the May 1 daytime birthday tribute to Glenn Ford. I think it's either the fourth or fifth non-Noir Alley movie to get a second airing this month, but my brain is too frazzled too remember. I will have to go back and look at my previous posts. The Body Disappears (Jeffrey Lynn, Jane Wyman) (Warner Bros., 1941) Arsenic and Old Lace (Cary Grant, Priscilla Lane) (Warner Bros., 1944) Monsieur Verdoux (Charles Chaplin, Mady Correll) (United Artists, 1947) Kill or Cure (Terry-Thomas, Eric Sykes) (Dist. in the US by MGM, 1962) The Loved One (Mick Foley, Danny Zucker) (Distribution credits are non-existent on IMDB, so I have no idea. A British film, I'm pretty sure)

Well, it's May now, so I feel like there's little point in continuing to post the May schedule. I am eagerly awaiting the full June schecdule. So far, TCM has only posted a "sample", the primetime lineups for the first 12 nights of the month. Nothing after that and no daytime lineups at all. Hope this is not the new reality.
