Interesting Easter Sunday lineup:
Any other "religious" Warner films which you would suggest making the roster instead?
The Green Pastures Sargent York One Foot in Heaven Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima The Nun's Story Oh, God!

I mentioned in another thread the absence of The Exorcist from the month-long spotlight. No doubt its disturbing nature would limit it to being aired in the middle of the night, if at all. I don't know if TCM was unable to obtain airing rights or if programmers were too squeamish to spotlight it. Admittedly, it's an odd choice for a "religious" film, but two of the central characters are priests, who are presented positively but also mostly three-dimensinoal characters and it undoubtedly launched an entire horror subgenre of the exorcism film, the likes of which sre still being made today.

Thanks for the info. I can't keep track of which studio originally released film and company releasing dvd's. I obviously don't research enough.

Movies-TV found religion on Easter Sunday since they dropped their standard Noir films Sunday and instead showed films with Christian themes like The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Sure. I can remember when THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and THE ROBE (and sometimes KING OF KINGS) were standard fare for the big three every Easter and Christmas.

Any other "religious" Warner films which you would suggest making the roster instead? The Miracle (1959) was a Warner's film with Carroll Baker and Roger Moore, about a novice who runs away to follow a cavalry officer. The convent's statue of the Virgin steps down to assume her form as a placeholder while she's off being naughty and I'm sure you can guess what happens at the end. It's pretty silly stuff but it has religious elements and then some. TCM has shown it but apparently it only still exists in a faded pan-and-scan print, so get to work, Warner's. There's always Warner's The Silver Chalice (1954), which TCM has gotten fonder of showing in recent years, but it's pretty iffy. Paul Newman famously took out a newspaper ad to apologize.

THE SHOES OF THE FISHERMAN and THE CARDINAL Even though they're not Warner Brothers either of them would have been a more logical choice that Oh, God!.

Sho' 'nuff. I like "Oh, God" but don't think it fits for religious holiday fare. And consider.... For decades many have debated the religious aspects of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, so why not that one instead? Sepiatone
