Thanks for the info.
Powell was previously TCM's Star of the Month in 1999 and 2011.

So I don't usually post on here but I was wondering if June's schedule is up somewhere yet? Usually the schedules are posted in advance and I've been checking everyday to see if there was any updates

It is well past when the preliminary schedule has usually been released.

One thing that usually gets overlooked is that William Powell left MGM after the war. Unlike Lionel Barrymore and Lewis Stone who seemed to have lifetime contracts with the studio, Powell actually parted company with MGM for awhile. I think some of this was because Powell wanted to freelance and go off to make LIFE WITH FATHER at Warner Brothers, a project he had his heart set on doing since he had seen the original production on Broadway.
Also, Powell's films at MGM were no longer doing so well at the box office. THE HOODLUM SAINT (1946) was a flop and the last Thin Man movie released in 1947, SONG OF THE THIN MAN, only did moderate business and ended up losing money when advertising and publicity were factored in.
After he made LIFE WITH FATHER, which was a huge hit and earned him an Oscar nomination, he did not go right back to MGM. Instead, he signed a multi-picture with Universal. And these films very seldom air on TCM:
THE SENATOR WAS INDISCREET (1947)...with Ella Raines MR. PEABODY AND THE MERMAID (1948)...with Ann Blyth TAKE ONE FALSE STEP (1949)...yes, he and Shelley Winters did a picture! THE TREASURE OF LOST CANYON (1952)...his last starring role, alongside Julie Adams
He also squeezed in a musical at Fox, the neglected DANCING IN THE DARK (1949).
Eventually he would return to Metro as a freelancer, appearing in one segment of IT'S A BIG COUNTRY (1951) and then he was third-billed, no longer the top dog, in THE GIRL WHO HAD EVERYTHING (1953) playing support to Elizabeth Taylor.
His last two films also had him in supporting parts...HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE for Fox, and MISTER ROBERTS for Warner Brothers. These were "A" pictures at the end, but he was no longer the star he had been and was now transitioning to character roles. After MISTER ROBERTS, he retired from motion pictures at the age of 63 and never once ventured into television. He lived to the age of 91.

That's a very nice summary. I notice TCM has included several of the films you mention on the final day for Star of the Month on the 31st:
The Senator was Indiscreet (1947) How to Marry a Millionaire (1953)
Mister Roberts (1955) The Girl Who Had Everything (1953) It's a Big Country (1952)

Glad to see they are showing some of his later films on the last evening of his month-long tribute.
There's a nice copy of DANCING IN THE DARK on the Russian site, if anyone's interested:

It's a shame that Fox hasn't seen fit to make more of their titles available for general viewing. I suppose that since Disney is now the owner there is a chance things will change, but I'm not counting on it.

Has anyone tried going in TCM.com recently? I still get their emailed newsletter, clicked on a link and the first thing that popped up was this message: "We've Updated Our Terms of Use. These updates contain important info about your legal rights, including an updated arbitration clause. By clicking "I Agree", you acknowledge you have read and agreed to the updated Terms." Really? I just want to look at your schedule. I can see that message if the olf TCM forum was still up and running. I dunno, it seemed a little much just to find out what movies were coming up this month or to read one of their programming articles. Am I nutz?

Does that mean someone tried to take them to court recently?

As Topbilled suggests, it's probably the result of some lawsuit, so (my guess) TCM paid a $1000+/hour lawyer to create a new "Terms of Use" doc that we all had to click to approve.

Thanks, TopBilled & Fading Fast --- You are probably right, something their lawyers came up with. But boy, does it feel like overkill when all we are doing is reading their schedule for this month. Makes ya wonder what happened to make TCM post that. As FF said, lawsuit most likely but over what??

The TCM web site does have links for classic cruises, film festivals, etc. where significant sums of money can be spent.
It does seem unusual for the notice to be sent out at this point. Perhaps the lawyers from the Discovery side of the merger are checking everything to make sure they are covered. That’s the only thing I can think of that might have changed recently.

That's a smart thought and certainly could be the reason for the updated "Terms of Use" approval requirement.

Bingo, now that makes sense. I can see if you are trying to buy or sign up for something on TCM that they would post a terms of use warning.
