All the credit for the following belongs to Andrea Doria who, yesterday during our Sunday Live "Don't be so Melodramatic" screening of "These Glamour Girls," noted the similarity between Jane Bryan and Patricia Neal.

Jane Bryan would have been one of the major actresses of the 40s if she didn't retire in 1940 at the age of 22. Like Olivia De Havilland, Warner Bros started to put Bryan in films when she was 17 and she was in 17 films before she retired. Bryan was in 4 films with Bette Davis who was fond of her.
My guess is that if Bryan had not retired and stayed with WB, it would have meant that other actresses that came up in the 40s for the studio, like Alexis Smith wouldn't have been offered long term contracts. (And maybe even lookalike Patricia Neal and Eleanor Parker, both who were signed by WB around the same time).

⇧ Agreed.
I also see a strong echo of Alexis Smith ⇩ in Binnie Hale

Cripes. Anyway you slice it I won't be sleeping tonight. Between Bogart looking like he was about to launch into bat flight from the window and now this spine-chilling simile. Not to mention I just watched Shirley in Dutchman. Sleep medication is out because I also watched The Suspect.
So much fun with film.

The second I saw TopBilled's post (in the Neglected Films thread) including this photo of Catherine McLeod, I thought of Illeana Douglas.

Catherine McLeod Illeana Douglas I agree, and how's this for a triple play, I'd add Marie Windsor to the group.

Kudos, you completed the very difficult quartet lookalike.

I'm fairly sure that first photo isn't McLeod but instead Windsor. I saw Windsor with that same look in a 50s western last week (when GRIT TV was having Woman's of the West week).

In fairness to the dear lady, here's the REAL McLeod. Not looking like the group, but lovely nonetheless:
