I wanted to run this by the members here prior to posting:
On a previous forum, I created a bracket (similar to college basketball's March Madness) but it was for classic films. It was very popular among the members of the previous forum and created a good discussion along with folks rooting for their preferred choices to advance.
Is this something you all would be interested in me creating here? It takes some time to create the bracket and choose the films and the seeding order, so I wanted to get y'alls perspective first before considering doing this.

Sounds like fun, I always do my basketball brackets, but it sounds like an awful lot of work for you.
How do films advance?

How do films advance? The film with the most votes would advance. I will create a bracket, let everyone view the matchups, and then I will post the individual matchups to be voted on by the members of the forum. So for instance, if Gone with the Wind vs Double Indemnity is a matchup, the film that receives the most votes would advance to the next round.

Maybe the 4 brackets could be based on one or two specific and related genres. E.g. say one bracket was noir\crime; then the films going against each other in the bracket would be something like Laura vs Double Indemnity. Note that your idea is a good one but like March Madness the most difficult part is the initial selection of the 64 films and the 32 initial matchups.

In the past when I did this, I quickly discovered that a 64 team bracket, like in the NCAA tournament, would take forever to finish out the results, because when I have to post each individual matchup as a poll, give it time to accumulate enough votes from members then proceed. So, I whittled it down to 32 movies, and tried to be as objective as possible regarding highly acclaimed classics. Certain limits had to be applied with the selections, which I'll explain when I post the bracket. Also, as much as I would have liked for the bracket to have 4 #1 seeds like in an NCAA bracket, the program I used seeded 1 through 32. So, essentially seeds 1-4 are the four number ones. For anyone who is reading this and isn't familiar with sports brackets, it all may sound confusing, but when you see the bracket you will clearly see which films are facing off against each other. As far as each bracket including a particular genre, I also found that too challenging because I don't have enough musicals for instance to fill up an entire region of a bracket. So, what I've done is try to separate certain classics from the same genre so they don't face off too early. For instance, The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity are on opposite sides of the bracket. I'll be posting the entire bracket soon, and then plan to post a couple of matchups per week so members can vote. Hopefully folks won't be too critical of the films I've chosen, because attempting to choose 32 classic films was challenging enough!
