And then there are the Germans... (I must have been triggered by the Smurfs) I am currently watching the Todd Haynes/Velvet Underground documentary. No sign of Irmin Schmidt yet. Not sure if it covers everyone they influenced.

I can't follow that, so I'm going with another kind of stupid.

This was one of my few album box sets in which the box didn't get squished within a year. All Things Must Pass was almost immediately a goner and The Concert for Bangla Desh didn't last much longer. Then they stuck out from everything else around them on the shelf.

I have Einstein. One two three four five six seven eight. Two three four. And my LP Six Pianos has some interesting art. Looks better full-size so you can catch the detail. Then Terry Riley In C rounds out my minimalist collection. The LP cover opens to include the printed music.

Isao Tomita's electronic interpretation of Gustav Holst's THE PLANETS not only offered interesting music but an interesting LP cover as well Sepiatone

Another comedy cover: As you can see, it came complete with giant rolling paper. I knew a few stoners who actually tried to use it. But with no success. Sepiatone

Cocaine Bear - oh my. Well I guess the music could be good? I first saw a commercial for it during SNL and thought it was one of their fabulous fake adverts. This is one I always found funny. Now when I look up how much trouble it was to get the photo, it makes it all the more delicious and truly ridiculous. I suppose I should google around to see if the full 24 images are available for viewing. Arrowsmith detailed that the eventual cover was one of the four he found acceptable in the 24 attempts he took. The spotlight's low potency meant everyone had to stand still for two seconds for proper exposure, which was made difficult by the photographer and subjects reportedly being in a "substance haze" following a party held by McCartney, making it harder for them to hold the pose. The golden hue of the picture is due to Arrowsmith using a regular daytime film instead of a Tungsten film, which would be better suited for night-time photographs.

Actually, those dumb-ass red hats were the only thing I liked about that group(notice no mention of the "music"). And only because they reminded me of some lampshades my Grandma had on a couple of lamps in her front room in the '50's. Really didn't make for good looking lampshades, and no better as hats. I often wondered if somebody in the group, or connected with it had a Grandma with the same lampshades. Sepiatone

You didn't like Human Highway (1982) Mr. S? I remember you have commented on your love of Neil Young. Strange I can't find a soundtrack album for it. This one isn't classic but you have to love the story behind the title... The name Songs for Judy originates from Young's story (told in the album introduction) about hallucinating during one of the shows and seeing Judy Garland in the orchestra pit.

Well, I don't seem to recall ever claiming to have a "love" for Neil Young. Out of it all I can only point to a couple or so songs I kinda liked. But, I also recall that Young's HARVEST album was a favorite among all the reefer freaks due to the coarse textured cover being perfect for the cleaning and seeds and stems separation from their stash. \Sepiatone

Liked - past tense <winkie roll eyeballs> I love the minimalist covers of Joy Division. Simply perfect match with the band & music. o
